Yesterday I was walking in my yard and got fairly close to the birdfeeder when I saw a bright flash of yellow and black. Thinking that the goldfinches had come by, I looked around the tree to see a dull greenish-yellow colored bird sitting at the feeder. Was this a female or a juvenile goldfinch? Or something completely different?

It was most likely an American Goldfinch in WINTER plummage they are not the bright yellow black and white all year. They turn a dull yellowish, brownish gray in Winter. Here is a picture of one.
