Okay. The teepee is the white speck near the center of the pic. It's just the tips of one of them seen from my mailbox.

The clear cutting that's going on across the road.

Are those actual teepees with native people living in them? Are they going to clear cut right into the teepees?

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

gwhalh,

When I moved here I didn't realize there is a mobile home down the road until they cut every and I mean every tree down. They weren't dead trees but now they're gone. People are nuts.

People can make a pretty penny having an area clear cut.....Marks family owns hundreds and hundreds of acres of land....every once in a blue moon they have some clear cut for the cash. Not saying it's a good thing to do but a lot of people do it when they have a lot of land.

That is so STRANGE that people are there living in teepees......I mean it's just not something you see in everyday living.

Yes, they are actual teeppees and yes there are people living in them. The area of land they are on is about 2 acres and is not part of the land being cut up. They have a hand painted sign at the foot of their driveway that say "Full Life Community Farm". My husband has met them and said they look like a bunch of throwbacks to the hippy age. Not that there is anything wrong with being a "hippy", but these folks swear they are going to "live off the land" with a vegie garden and animals and everything. I just don't see how they are going to manage that on 2 acres! It's just kinda weird to sit on my front porch and see the teepees through the woods!

nervous

On 2 acres, live off the land.. We have 56 and it is impossible.
He worked in town .
Now from a foresters way of life. Clearing out forests is a good practice. It helps get rid of the dried up broken off trees limbs and shrubs and weeds that come with it . In an event of fires , that is what feeds the flame. All that extra trash.
Also it is used to profit. If you have the correct types of wood, such as oak or cherry, you want to thin out the forest to give the trees a better chance to widen the tree. If the forest is never cleared or thinned, it grows into a jungle.
Did you ever try to walk thru a wild berry patch? My neighbors have our cattle allowed to run in the woods on their land , to keep it manicured. They dont have to clear it ........
Hopefully they plant more trees to replace that field . They do not thin it our bare here.

Hope I didnt bore you .
