Actually I'm reading this story about a 30 year old woman that wants to get married so badly that she pays an escort to act like he's her boyfriend and they plan a big fake wedding together in the span of a year(with the plan that she would leave him at the altar). lol It's kind of silly and light hearted....I mean who would really do that? It's a nice funny, light hearted book though and I like that. thumbup I have quite a few bird books too though, but I've already read them all. lol

we're getting way off topic but maybe Cindy is asleep and won't yell at Loz who is supposed to tell us to get back on topic but....

speaking of someone wanting to get married so badly. My friend Teresa, was married to an abusive man for many years with 2 children. She traveled with her job and found out that he was punching and kicking their children while she was out of town so she left him - leaving him in the house and taking the children to her parents. After a few months of him not begging her to come back she moved into an apartment. He still didn't beg. One year and 1 day after she left he married someone else. She was devasted. She told me she thought they would "work it out." I told her she was crazy because he was killing her children.

Anyway, she was soooo lonely. She hooked up with a man who was an alcoholic who openly hated and I mean HATED her children. He saw other women and didn't keep it a secret. She let him move into her house with her and her children. He never paid 1 cent for anything, never bought groceries, never paid for any vacation they took, bought him more than 1 new vehicle many new clothes and on an on. He lived with her for 8 or 9 years just leaving last summer because he had found his "true love." Again she was devasted. Again I told her she was crazy that she should be glad he's gone and she told me I have no idea what it's like to be lonely.

I talked with her last week and his new true love has left him (can't imagine why) so "they are talking."

I hope I NEVER get so lonely that I will hook up with a man who hates my children.

Hijacking of topics is okay, as long as it's not in the plant sections. lol

And surely I'm not putting us back on the right track.....I'm BIG TROUBLE afterall. haha

That's so sad that someone could be that desperate for a man.....If I were that lonely I'd move in with my friend or my sister or something....I would never put innocent kids into a situation like that. BUT, saying that---I do know that when you are emotionally abused you start to believe it after a while....Until your self esteem is so low that you probably don't have it in you much to leave the situation.

that is sad .. Very very sad.
When a women is that desperate for a man, it is almost useless to try to change the.

But I cannot believe they would hurt the kids that way. I will pray for her and the kids.

besides, i have my own love story... a pretty good one, all things considered.

scott asked me to marry him on a sunday. the sunday after we had met. we met on monday, 10 hours after i filed for divorce from my first husband. i told him no in some very colorful ways and in some very colorful language for 6 weeks. this year we have been married 24 years. most of the time i wouldn't trade him for the world, but he knows that it was strictly divine intervention that got me to marry him, 'cause i wouldn't have done it other wise, and even now, if anything happens to him, i'll never marry again. i'd rather live alone.

Ours is a love story too.

My dad was in the Army so we moved around a lot. In the 9th grade my dad went to Vietnam and for some reason we moved to Charlotte, NC (even though neither of my parents are from there) and I went to school the entire 9th year there. I had a boyfriend named Johnny (not my now Johnny) who was friends with my now Johnny. I broke up with the other Johnny and when my now Johnny found out he waited outside the school and we walked home together that day. I don't think we ever talked again and I didn't even remember the walk until he reminded me years later. When my dad came home that summer we moved again to Georgia and I went to 10th grade there. After the 10th grade my dad was sent to Germany and since he and my mom hated each other at this point, mom and the kids moved back to Charlotte (who knows why she picked Charlotte since we'd lived all over the world) and I went to the 11th and 12th grades in Charlotte. I don't remember Johnny at all in the 11th and 12th grade. We didn't have any classes together.

Johnny says he remembers seeing me the first day of the 11th grade and was so happy because he had loved me since the 9th grade. He is very shy and was trying to get up the nerve to talk to me but after a week or two I was dating a guy that I dated for almost 2 years. He says he was heart broken and used to sit behind me at the football games and walk by my house (our neighborhoods were sort of close to each other) and that everyone even his girlfriend knew that he had a big crush on me. He can tell me all sorts of stuff about what I did and what I wore in the 11th and 12th grade and I don't remember ever seeing him. He says now days he'd be arrested for stalking.

Anyway we went our separate ways, him getting married right out of high school and me several years later. I remember seeing and speaking to him at our 10 year reunion. We even danced one dance together. He says that his entire marriage that when he and his wife argued she would tell him to "just call Sheri and see if you can live with her." I had no idea.

6 years after that 10th reunion he and his wife split and 2 years later my husband and I split.

I had a friend from high school that I kept in touch with who had split with her husband too and she called one night and said that she had run into Johnny and that he was divorced and that SHE wanted to date him and would I go with her because Johnny was bringing a friend to meet her for dinner. I didn't want to go but she begged so I did.

The rest is history. Seriously it was attraction at first site.

I never wanted to marry again but he kept telling my mother I was "causing him to sin" because unfortunately even though I didn't want to marry I did want to kiss (if you get my drift) so 8 years later I married him.

That's a heck of a story Sheri! thumbup

And Jiffy, good thing Scott was persistent. lol

My story isn't so exciting but here you go:

I was invited at work to a large "camp-out" party a co-worker was having. My brother worked with me too and I finagled him an invite also. So we were driving out to this party(in the middle of nowhere), my brother flashed his lights at me and and I pulled over....he said, Loz how far out here is it? I said I have no idea....he said, well if we go much further I'm turning around and going home. It was a little country road, not many houses. So finally we find the house....

We go down and chat and party. Mark wasn't there, but his older brother was there.....he kept hitting on me all night long(even following me to the outhouse they'd set up for the party). Finally I said to my brother, introduce yourself to him as my boyfriend so he'll leave me alone. lol Which he didn't do! rspb So it was REALLY late....probably 1-2 am, campfire is going strong, drinks are flowing. So Mark just so happens to be going home along that road, notices there's a party and pulls in---he's not invited--but everyone out there knows each other and is related so he just stops by. He said he almost kept going but something told him to stop.

So as soon as I see him I had my sights set on him I guess. lol We started talking, talked for a good while.....then we kissed! shock I have 3 witnesses that say he kissed me first....he has one guy that said I kissed him first. haha We slept together that first night by the campfire, just outside under the stars.....Of course I told him that I just would be sleeping so if he thought otherwise he could go elsewhere. lol thumbup

The next morning we barely talked(I think we both had hangovers) lol .....and I took it upon myself to drive to his parents house the following weekend to ask him out(he didn't know I was even coming). Which is SOOOOOOOOOOOO not me! I'm not one to do that. He gave me his phone number on a piece of paper and I still have it upstairs.

So looking back, I almost turned around and went home with my brother, Mark almost didn't stop at the party---oh and he'd just got his long hair cut short. If his hair had been long I wouldn't have even gave him a second glance--he'd always had long hair up until a week or so before the party. I just like clean cut. So things lined up just right. God KNEW! thumbup He's my best friend. :ding:

Not that exciting but there you have it. 11 years together this August.

Oh and when we were by the campfire I kept getting closer and closer to Mark, he was on one side, I was on the other---I swear it was like a magnetic pull. I'd never felt anything like it before. haha

The best revenge IS to ignore them,, Don't give them satisfaction of letting them know it hurts your feelings,, because that just gives them, ammo for more abuse,, and yes I see that as mental /psycological abuse, you can try to come back with something witty like /Ya wanna be my personal trainer?? Cook my meals and help me loose weight if ya don't want to help me , there is nothing you can say,,,, BUt really most times it's best to just ignore them,!

emde,

Your rather young to be giving a love story.. I mean 98% of use been there on this seed swap.....YOu have plenty of time for that thing called love.
That nonoyou dad should not make fun of you, nor should your siblings.
Sounds like they have problems worse than yours.

Maybe if you found a hobby like taking your dog for a walk each day, it would make you feel better. Then you will feel like doing more.
Your esteem is low and you need to do something to make yourself more active.

Not try to get even......I always thought TIme spent getting Even , Would be better spent getting ahead.
I know it is hard but please try.. We love you on here and want to help.

MIne is not nearly so exciting---

I dated one of my DH's friends for a few years--kinda off & on--This one night we ended up at my DH's house. His parents were on vacation & he had set up his drums in place of the dining room table.

skip to the night after a dance where my DH's band had played. he stops at our table at the restaurant we all went to after the dances--and says he is a rock star 3rd degree & did one of us have a match---(my GF was alwasy prepared so she gave him one)

skip to the winter after I get out of junior college. he buys my friend & I a drink at the dance (same place)--his old band was playing & he was visiting them. Then we all go to the same place to eat together---& he asks for both our phone numbers.--so 2 weeks later as I am brushing my teeth getting ready for work, I was thinking he should call me soon, the phone rings & it is him & he aske me out.

The 3rd date he says--I never want to get married,---but if I do I do not want to have kids,---but if I do---I do not want a son.

I always tell him well 1 out of 3 isn't bad. lol
he got married, he had kids BUT we have 2 girls.
We dated 2 years 2 months & 2 days. This next April 7th we will be married 29 years.
not so dramatic but I thought I would share........ bow

will call my girls tomorrow Loz & work something out.

No he didn't. he just kinda matter of factly said we should get married.

When he went ring shopping (we had been looking in books together) I sent my sister in my place becasue i didn't want to fall in love with a ring that was not in his price range).

So when the ring was ready, he comes to my house early. There I am in my purple robe & curlers yet (this was 1978) so he sits me down on his lap & give me my ring.

I think we went to a show that night, but I cannot remember that part for sure.

The day we got married, we had been dating 2 years, 2 months & 2 days.
We began dating on his parents anniversary & we got married on my sister's birthday. (April 7th)

her in a few months we will have been married 29 years

It's so nice to see that there are so many out there that have such wonderful friends in their spouse! I know my hubby is deffinately MY best friend!

I met hubby in high school. I was in the 11th grade, he in the 9th. I never looked twice at him as far as "boyfriend material", most of the guys I dated were already out of school, but I did talk to him and he would sit at the same table with me and my friends at lunch. Anyway, I left that school halfway through the year and moved to the other side of the counrty. We had been in Georgia and went to California. I was gone for about 4 years and wound up back in Georgia. When he found out I was back, he managed an invite to my mother's house through a friend of my then stepsister. Instead of talking to the friend and stepsister, he talked to my mother the whole time, trying to get info on me. When I went over there a couple of days later, my mother asked me about him. I couldn't even remember who he was and had to pull out a yearbook to look him up! LOL I got his number from my stepsister and called him that night, a Monday. We talked for 3 hours, and he came over the next night. He also came over on Wed and Thurs. Thursday he asked me if I would go to the football game with him the next night and I told him "just as friends". I moved in with him the following week, at which point he asked me to marry him. We were married 3 months later, and just celebrated our 13th anniversary in December!

Not very romantic, but it's lasted.

Well Carol....here it is.

I started working at my current job 6 1/2 years ago and at that time I was married and pregnant with Tristen. 1 1/2 years later I got divorced. James and I had been coworkers all that time but that had been it. I was married and neither of us thought of each other as more than coworkers. The guys were always out on the job and I work in the office so I really didn't see him that often. Well after I had been divorced for about 6 months a bunch of us went out after work for a bit. James and I talked a lot that night but that was about it. The next day he called to see if I wanted to go out Saturday night. I wasn't sure what to think because we worked together so I talked the other girl who worked with me in the office to go out with us along with the guy that she was dating. This girl and I had become friends over time and done things outside of work so it wasn't unusual for us to go out. I asked James if it was okay and he was alright with that. I was just nervous and a little uncomfortable so I thought if I had her along it would be easier. lol Well...it obviously went well and James and I hit it off and dated for 2 years and then we moved in together. We still are not married but we have been together for almost 5 years!!! That is my story.
