Just bought a ponytail palm...any suggestions on care?

Specifically, should I repot or leave in pot I bought it in for a while?

what kind of soil is it in? if it's in peat, then i'd repot it - into cactus soil. also, if it looks like the bulb is too close to the sides of the pot, then repot to a size larger. this does best in unglazed clay and you must have drain holes (you can put it in a larger, nicely decorated container to hide the clay).

since it's a bulb you're best to water from below - put the pot in a dish/bowl and fill with water and let it sit so the water is soaked up into the soil. continue adding more water and letting it soak in until the top of the soil starts to look and feel moistened. let the soil dry completely before watering again.

needs bright indirect lighting. you can put it outside in the summer if you want - just put it in a fairly shaded spot.
