How do you grow a cactus garden (inside) -- its like a terrarium but a desert version, so its opened and dry and what not -- do you know how to start and maintain it ?

any sggestions for plants to put in it ?

(its a 10 gallong aquarium)

cactus and other succulents need dryness and air circulation so putting them in a glass enclosure would not be wise.

you can do small cactus gardens by using large clay dishes or bowls.

theres not going to be a lid, so its going to have a lot of air circulation. (thanks for the info though, becasue i was originaly going to put the lid on .. thanks)

do you have any suggestions for what plants that i should put in there ?

you will need to make sure there is a fan or something that gets air moving around in the aquarium. i have to agree with joclyn on that.

for a cactus garden, i took some of those clear glass candle dishes that are about 2-3 inches deep, maybe 8 inches in diameter. put cactus soil in it, and an assortment of the $1 cacti from walmart. just random succulents. don't know any plant names, but they are growing.
