the tornados that went through georgia were spawned by some awesome thunderstorms. this is the storm that put 4 counties (including the one i live it as well as the one savannah is in) in the dark for 2-15 hours.

thanks mel. there were better opportunities, but it started raining big (size of grapes) drops and i got in the car and we just went home. the power went out within the first hour we were home and for us was only out a couple of hours, but for others it was 15 hours or more.

I love watching lightening storms. I usually go down to the beach, it is spectacular to see the lightening over the ocean. I've never thought to try and take pictures, That's awesome.

I'm glad you didn't lose power for too long.

I love that last picture Jiffy!!! That's the only thing I don't like about living in Seattle. We have the wimpiest thunderstorms (if you can even call them that) in the world, and I love lightning and thunder. Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad you're okay.

thank you all. those are the best 5 out of about 40 that matthew and i took. i got the lightening bolt. he and i were passing the camera back and forth and scott was good natured and kept pulling over so we would have good shots. that was taken between statesboro and oliver and the lightening probably touched down around springfield.

I am addicted to violent storms. I've been in two tornadoes, in one of them I was INSIDE the funnel cloud itself in my car and was NOT hurt. we had to shovel the inside of the car out and fumigate it after that experience, but neither the car nor I was damaged at all. Just be sure it doesn't happen to you.
