Our crocuses (or croci?) have bloomed today, second to do so in the neighbourhood from what I saw! The geranium inside is putting out a bloom, the petals have left the calyx so it should be any time now the petals unfurl

I don't have good luck with geraniums inside or out. Go figure. They're like a week in everyone else's yard but I've never had great success with them and I love them.

Are pincushin flowers similar to batchelor buttons?

I know exactly what you mean Sheri, I bought two geraniums for .77 in a 4" square pot, I figured if they die, it's still just .77 each, if I keep them alive, it's better than paying 3.50 for a 4" pot in the summer. I see lots of huge geraniums in the windows of houses along the street. I usually kill them the second week I buy them, but I'm having some good luck this time!

I think pincushion and bachelor's buttons are similar, but pincushion is Scabiosa (I think) and Bachelor's Buttons are Centaurea. I think there are annual and perennial varieties of both things.

I don't have good luck with geraniums either. why I buy them every year and I keep them all summer but they never look too good. I don't know what I do wrong.

Diane!!! That is a winner!!! Did I ever tell you that yellow roses are my favorite? That one is gorgeous! I cannot grow them here because the deer eat the rose bushes down to the ground - thorns and all!

psssst - I think it you crop that picture a little more evenly, you can definitely enter it into that contest that you won a few years ago!

Those are full sized hyacinths, Carol. Purples, blues and pinks.

Tina did sent me some grape hyacinth bulbs 2 years ago, but I don't see any signs of them this year - yet. They are much smaller than the ones I posted.

Lynne, I may be wrong but I think you sent me some narcissus bulbs that I put in pots and have blooming right now. Your daffs are so pretty but yellow is my favorite color.

Loz, your doubles are gorgeous.

Isn't nature wonderful. I love the colors. I think my ruffled tulip looks like some sort of bird with all the different colors in it. And I didn't realize the white azalea had pink in it until I saw the picture. And it looks like Lynne's buttercups are different shades of yellow while Loz's daffodils are one color. Lynne, one thing I noticed is that the buttercups (that's what I call the shape of yours) smell good and the other daffs don't have a smell.

Interesting Sheri - I've not noticed a fragrance, but I can't bend down to smell them for a few more days.

I love your azaleas - I either love them, or dislike them strongly, and yours are ones that I really do like! And your pansies are very pretty too - clean and fresh looking.

I don't think I was the one to send you the narcissis Sheri - I don't recall doing that?

Loz - I have not seen double daffodils - they are really pretty, and very different looking!

I don't like azaleas at all. They were here. I don't plant them.

wonder who sent the narcissus then - someone from here I'm sure.

Have you hurt your back?

The front of my parents' house is planted with overgrown azaleas - I grew up with them and they have never been pruned back, so they really should be taken out now. They bloom red, which is not a color I prefer in flowers, so they are the ones I do not like at all.

I had minor surgery on something on my leg just below the knee last Wednesday and it seems that I have been doing too much, as it keeps bleeding a bit each day. So I have to take it easier and try to stay out of the gardens for a few more days - it's so hard to do now that things are finally greening up around here!

Keep those terrific pictures coming Sheri!

Don bought me this peace lily for Valentine's Day this year and it is still blooming strong - the longest I've ever had one bloom for me. The flowers are so crisp and clean looking!

Nothing blooming here in the ground, but I saw a flower bud on one of my tulips. I cut some forsythia from my neighbours to give to my teacher (critical black thumb-er lol) and the ones I have inside have been in bloom for a week now (they sure keep well as cut flowers). The crocus and snowdrops are almost done blooming

my orange tree is in a large pot. it too is beginning to bud.--i even have 1 bloom.--I so wish it had of waited, so it could be outside.-

do you know if I need 2 trees in order to have it polinate?/ or are they self-polinators???--I would love to have any size fruit on it.

Answering JunieGirl's question...

Some orange trees need pollination by another tree others don't or I think they can all self-pollinate.

I got my q-tip out last year when the tree bloomed& played 'bee'--but nothing happenmed---perhaps it was the wrong time of year, or perhaps i did it wrong---then again it may not be a self polinator---.

But thannks emde for the answer.

This is the first violets to bloom this year. They originally came from the yard--back at our "farm", so I am very proud of them.

nope they are going down with it not up, tearing it down, then they bury what's left.

we don't have basements here, water table is too high. they keep water in them all the time

JunieGirl, that's right and I love them. I can send you seeds although I've never grown them in pots. sometimes they get tall so you'd need a big pot. But I've got seeds if you're interested. They don't have a fragrance.

that rose is so pretty. I don't know what Bee's Jubilee is but it's pretty. Looking at this forum is so fun.

Loz, I think I have some double tulips. They are so colorful and fluffy. I took a picture and it looks like a bird.

loz - I just love bleeding hearts, but then again... so do the deer!

The bees jubilees - they look like clematis?

That rose DIANE!!! I can smell it just by looking at it - it is soooooooo lovely! Also can't grow those thanks to the deer eating them down to the ground, thorns and all!!!

Very pretty Diane. thumbup

I ordered my double daffs and tulips from a catalog a few years ago......I love double flowers...... clap

BTW, Lynne---couldn't you get a few large pots and plant a bleeding heart or two in the pots and have the pots up on your deck? I just love them. The white one I've had for 5 years, but the pink one I just bought last year. thumbup

sure, thanks---and I will plant them in my flower bed---if I cannot do it--i will have valarie do it when the kids enlarge my exsisting flower bed. and i am not doing this until after mom's day so you have plenty of time--

-do you need any red sage salvia, purple coneflower, or perhaps some morning glory?/ ( I must warn you though, the MG is volunteer.

and Thanks!!!!
