Okay. I have a camelia that is about waist high. It was here when we moved in last year. I want to move it to the other side of the house where I think it will do better, but I need to make sure that this would be an okay time to do so. I've always gone on the precept that if the nurseries are selling a particular plant, it's okay to move/transplant one that's already in the ground. Everything else I have done this way has done fine, but I'm not very familiar with the camelias. Any help is appreciated!

There are two types of camelias- those that bloom in late winter/early spring and those that bloom in late fall. If yours is not in bloom now or in bud, you can go ahead and move it. If it is blooming or in bud, you might want to wait until fall to move it or you may lose your blooms from transplant shock. I transplanted 3 camelias several years ago and they have done quite well.

This one isn't blooming right now. It doesn't even have any buds on it. Last year it had a single flower at this time of year. I guess the drought last year messed it up for blooming this time around. Thanks for the info.
