I just got a dump truck load of mulch for FREE!Appearently the county is clearing a power line access or something and a friend of ours that works for the county said that they would deliver free loads of mulch to anyone that wanted it. As my flower beds around the house needed new mulch anyway, we had them bring us a load.

Just a heads up for anyone that needs it, check with the county offices to see if they are clearing anywhere and have mulch to get rid of. I don't know that ALL places do this, but hey, it's worth a phone call at least!

BTW...I'm in Carroll County, GA if there is anyone else on this list from here. Call the roads department for the mulch. The guy said he could bring us 20-30 loads if we wanted it! (Don't need that much or have the room for it! lol)

Wow! That is great! It's always nice to get something free. One thing you need to find out is if it's aged mulch or fresh wood chips. Fresh wood chips should only be used on established trees and shrubs because as it ages it leeches nitrogen out of the soil. Regardless, free is free and you could always pile it somewhere and let it age over the summer and use it in the fall (if it's fresh wood chips).

I agree, leave it age and watch for insects. I once got an army of ants with free cedar mulch.....mind you the neighbours got a nest of snakes with their free sand lol

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
