been seeing 2 birds at the bird house they are 5 to6 inches long both been checking the house out but do not know what kind they are? 5 to 6 inches long white underneath and has dark blue maybe some black color two? lived in ohio can anyone tell me what they are trying to get into blue bird house! Thank you rita

Sounds like an Eastern bluebird to me.

Do they look like these?

thank you but found a picture of them they are tree swallows but now sparrows are making a nest in the house seen them take some straw like material into it and also 3 of the swallows was trying to take over but they finally left and have not seen them anymore?Have a good day gardening buddy!

oh so sad tha the swallows left---I love swallows--thumbup

we had barn swallows at the farm---we would make sure the top doors of the barn were open in time each year so they could build their nests.
very good insect eaters.---

Tree Swallows are DIFFERENT from Barn Swallows, but just as good to have. Tree Swallows are dark blue on top and white underneath. Barn Swallows, of course are dark blue on top and orange and white underneath. There are a bunch of Barn Swallows that nest behind my house in my neighbor's yard each Summer. They often come to my birdbath to bathe.
