Just thought I'd share it with you guys. I got a bursary to go to Quebec a french province to study at a french university during the summer! Bu if I go, I can't have a garden this year, because no one at home is willing to help me water, I still don't know what to do with my plants then, especially my brugs and callas...on second though I'm not even sure I want to go

What a great opportunity for you, Kenny. Have you no kind friends or neighbors who will take on your plant care? I wish I lived closer. I would do it so you could go with a free mind and take advantage of it all.

Kenny, this is like a once in a lifetime chance for you!!!! If it were me---I'd go....years from now you may look back and think, geez--I wish I would've went.
Like Barb says, you have years to garden....but not years of opportunities to seize a chance like this.
We love your company, but you will love getting Higher education.. Not everyone gets that chance...... And we can still talk to you from here..maybe the neighbor kid will help?

Congrats Kenny! For me the odds are against me.I'm hispanic and a lot of hispanic people don't have the money or have difficulty getting money for college or university. But there's still hope for me. I get good grades and I can get some scholarships easily for college or a university.
Congrats Kenny, hey when I go to town it's just a 5 minute drive to cross into Quebec.....the liquor there is half price(meaning everyone visits there quite often )
Where in Quebec is the school? It's a great opportunity for you.

OH Kenny--this is a great opportunity for you. Do not pass it up. I agree, if ou do you will regret it. and as emde pointed out not everyone has this chance, and I think you should go for it.
Would you be living at the school, or commuting?--because if you were commuting, you could give up 30 minutes of sleep a day and just water some of your plants each morning.--if you will be living there I hope that you find someone to help you out. if not---yes, there will be other years to garden, but not other years to take advantage of this opportunity.
Congratulations!!!!

Kenny this is a once in a life time opportunity and you can't let it slip away we are given very few of them in life. What University is it ?? McGill??
Maybe you could mail out some of your plants to people willing to care for them and when it is all over get starts back of them.
I would go Kenny! As everyone else has said you have years to garden but this is a once in a lifetime opportunity!! I would definitely put some serious consideration into going!!
Thanks for your advice everyone, I will be going with a friend who was also accepted

You might want to contact the Master Gardeners of Ontario and check with them to see if there are volunteers living close to you who might be willing to look after your plants.

I'll be going for sure now, the problem now is that I need to find out when I will be arriving there so someone there can take us to the college, there are no trains going to that town until monday (we need to get there on saturday or sunday), we'll probably be taking the bus, the taxi's gonna coast $50-60...trying to keep things as cheap as possible

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.

Yup Quebec is pure french and then we are the bilingual province...and yet they are fighting to take french immersion out of our classes...makes no sense.
I'm sure you'll have a fun time Kenny, it'll be a great experience for you....and french is pretty easy to learn. Just wish I'd get to use mine more..I'm starting to forget alot of it.

What worries me the most is they take marks off if they hear you speaking english, I think it's 5% each time. My communication oral french isn't that good, but my writing is pretty good. I've asked my french teacher for oral lessons, I can see myself staring at the teacher not understanding a word

I'm sure he'll do fine, it can be really tough if there's no motivation (I certainly had none from my parents) actually it's not that easy, because french has more tenses for all the verbs, and there are three ending to verbs. english, is actually quite a sloppy language if youlearn french, spanish, italian, especially after you learn latin
