Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong with my plants. I have not transplanted them yet, waiting for the last frost. Some of my plants leaves look to be turning a grayish or very light brown color. Some of it is in spots on the leaves and some are the entire leave. Am I over watering? I take them outside now during the day to get sunlight. I take them out about 8:30 in the morning and bring them in about 7:00 p.m. I leave the light on in the room where they are until about 10 or so. I put just a tad of water in the container before I put them outside. I didn't water them the 1st day I put them out and they wilted on me. I watered them and they came back up. HELP PLEASE!
I'm sure this won't be the last ya hear from me. I'm sure I'll have millions of questions. I love this forum.

Thanks again.
Lori

it's ok for tomatoes to dry out between waterings. (but not to the point of wilting) If the whole leaf was yellow i'd say it was just overwatering, but 'knotsure' about the spots you mentioned.

If the spots are actually tan/light brown rather than gray, it could be a bit of burning from being in full sun. If they've been out for several days, and the spots aren't spreading, they may be hardened off and your worries are over.
If the spots are grey, it could ve a fungus, but it doesn't sound like the conditions would promote fungus growth.
Pic's would be very helpful if you have a camera.

Is there a way to post pictures on this forum. I'm new here. I can send/post a picture.

It's really easy to post pics if you get a Photobucket account. Go to their website and sign up, then there will be a place to load pics. It's really easy. If you have questions, just ask...if you get your pics loaded to your account, you'll use the .img format, copy, and then paste to a topic here.

Thanks from me, Dave!
I've been wondering how you all were getting photos in your post.

photobucket usually resizes pics automatically. I don't know why they're so big, but you can go back to those pics and click edit, resize, and click on 640 x 800 (I think) and they'll fit better on the page. They'll automatically be resized here because they're really just links.
That looks like wind or sunburn, but it could be a bit of fertilizer burn. Or, it could be where a bit of water got on the leaves and that caused the sun to burn them. Think of them as blemishes...they're not likely to spread. The plants are probably tough enough now to tolerate the sun and wind without further burning, if they've been out for several days already.

Thanks Dave

The plants did get water on them. That first day I put them out in the sun. My daughter watered them and just took the hose and sprayed them. Im glad to know that the plants aren't dying. I was afraid I was starting to lose them.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Lori
