to post this picture on here. She's in her 70's and her daughter just moved nearby and has a shrub in her yard that needs ID'd.....It's about 3-4 ft tall. And is just now coming out in leaves for the year, so it's not evergreen. No blooms on it yet, and we're in zone 6.

Neither have a digital camera, and she asked me if I could post a pic of the leaf to see if that would help. All the leaves are spotted like that.

i was thinking acuba japonica

that is a very pretty gold speckled plant.

I wish it were but it can't be.......Acuba Japonica is evergreen and this plant is deciduous, and AJ is hardy to zone 7. I'm in 6a.

It looks a lot like it though....

I'm going to see if she can somehow get a real pic of the shrub and email it to me. thumbup

Darn photobucket.......it should be resized, I hate when it doesn't work right---that happens a lot with PB. Let me log back in and I'll make it even smaller than it should already be.
