Sorry....But a lot has happened in the past year....and still happening, I don't think they have a little icon for ripping hair out by the roots do they? Oh wait I don't have much of that left now anyway.
But I'm back!
Actually I am going to be gardenless this year. At least one of my own. One of the many things that has happend was that I had to move very quickly due to the fact that my roof had caved in. Well the only place that I could find quickly was an appartment, and had to sign a years lease. But just as well, I will be pretty busy this season with the return of both my sons, and one them has married so she will be living with me as well. Thank God I got a 3 bedroom appartment!

Hi there Mike! wavy

Could you do any container gardening? Do you have a patio or anywhere you could put some pots?

I can do a hanging basket and maybe a window box or two, if I can figure some way of attaching them to the railing. Thats okay though, I deal with plants all day long :) I think I can deal with a year of keeping things simple. This are going to be a bit crazy this year. But it makes the time go by faster.

Hi, I have a Hawaiian Umbrella tree and I saw on TV that you can root the clippings and start a new tree. I clip mine down routinely to maintain a small look. Do you think I will be able to successfully root one of the clippings? Do you have any advice on this subject? I've had my tree for over a year now....I never owned a bonsai tree before this and this one is very special. I will take some photos of it....I did post photos when I got it a year ago, but it has grown since then! Please advise me as to the rooting possibility....it sounds very interesting to me..
Thanks so much...
Liz

They root fairly easily. I've taken many cuttings off of mine. I have rooted them in potting soil.Mine is not a bonsai. I just cut off about 15 feet of it to bring it down to about 7 foot tall. I bought it as a tiny 1 inch potted plant about 16 years ago.

Wow...that's pretty big!! I got mine as a gift last Christmas. I will get some photos of it and post them on this forum. This is my first adventure with a bonsai, so it scares me a little, plus the fact that this tree was given to me by my fiancee...so I don't want to kill it! I will try to root the cuttings. I'm looking forward to being more adventuresome with my little tree. Thanks for your advice and help.
