OK, so it took longer to get the house closed than we thought it would, and the rose-bushes went about 4 months with no TLC, and very little water. They are very big and full, but I don't know how to help them now. Do they need extra water to make up for the other time? How much water?
Oh, and some of the blooms (just a couple) are bent and dying (like they do in a vase over time.) What do I do for them? idea

The sunshine is calling me, the dirt says come and play, the little seeds yawn for a nap, the weeds yell go away!

roses are pretty darn resilient and can weather through a period of neglect like you're talking about. sheesh! they can handle YEARS of absolute complete neglect, overrun by weeds and then weed-whacked to about 8 inches tall and still end up being fine!! (i'll have to post pics of the roses i rescued!!)

anyhoo, just snip off the flowers/buds that are done/damaged. if it's a re-bloomer type, you'll have new buds in no time! as for watering, other than the initial getting-established period, i don't water mine at all unless it hasn't rained for weeks.

you may want to work some rose food into the soil. other than that, i'd just let them be.

in the fall, cut them back to 2-3 feet tall and that should set them up for really nice growth next year.
