So I went in for the NST and fluid scan today. The NST was pretty uneventful. I did get borderline sick and light-headed, but that was all because of how I was sitting. I rolled onto my left side and was much better. So after the NST I went across the hall for the fluid scan. The tech walks in and I say to her that she could just make a report saying that I was really low on fluid so that we could get this kid out. "Well you only have 3 more days!" she says. Stephen and I just looked at each other. We told her about how the c/s was originally scheduled for Friday but then had to be rescheduled because of 'hospital policy'. The tech had never heard of that supposed policy and said that according to the computer I'm still scheduled for the c/s on Friday instead of next Wednesday!!! I told her and Stephen that if the hospital calls on Thursday to confirm everything for Friday I'm not going to say a word and I'm going in on Friday to get this baby out! So help me God if we go in on Friday after getting a phone call and some doctor tells me that they aren't going to do the c/s because of that stupid policy, I'm going to make a scene and they WILL do the c/s. I'm not going to drive an hour to the hospital for nothing with gas as expensive as it is and I have family driving nearly 3 hours for this! So, we are now wondering if we'll get the phone call on Thursday or Tuesday. lol

couldn't you just call the admissions office & ask them?/

could you tell them all of what you have been told & say "ok--when do you want me here"???

I kind of think it's funny. I'm afraid to call and ask about stuff because I'm totally fine with it happening on Friday and I don't want them to see their mistake and say "oh...no....you have to wait until Wednesday". LOL...I know that is only a week, but every extra day with this kid's head in my rib is killing me!!! LOL!! I want my ribs...and my lungs...and my stomach...and my bladder back!!! They are NOT trampolines!!! ;)

They will still let someone be overdue. I do not think they will let someone go more than 2 weeks before they induce tho. It isn't an issue for me tho since they are doing a c-section again. Thank goodness!

Did you know that at one time they would totally knock the mother out and she would labor while unconscious? I think they did that because they didn't consider screaming your head off while something the size of a watermelon squeezed through something the size of the lemon lady-like. Oy!

I was due with my first-1980- (valarie) somewhere between march 20-26.--when you have a 'pill' baby no one can be sure-- rolz.
well anyway on April 2 I was given a stress test to check on the baby.--the stuff they gave me was a smaller amount of the stuff they gave to induce labor.--well in theory when the test was done they take you off the medication your labor pains stop & you go home.--I layed there hours waitng for my pains to stop. finally the dr. sent me home.--well early the next day my water broke up high--and the infection set in that gives you a green discharge.--calling the dr. all along I was,- honest---
finally at 5 pm I started back labor pains--they were wildly erratic.--DH was nervous & so we went to the hospital. which was good because half the way there-(30 minute drive)- I started with back labor pains that were 5 minutes from the start of one to the end of the next---

tests on the discharge did indeed show the infection & an x-ray showed I would be in that horrible labor for 12 more hours--not to mention valarie was laying with her arm over her head--so if I had of had the '9lb. 3 oz' baby
it would not of been fun,
she might have been in a bad way from the infection
and on top of that her arm would have been defiantely broke.
--so at 10 at night I had a C-section.

Emily's c-cection was scheduled for may 7th, 1986---
she decided to come april 26th (all the good people are born in april you see--lol)
she was still a c-section.

I have to agree with that Carol. thumbup lol

Things haven't changed too much with childbirth over the years, not tremendously---same concept. I just wonder if years and years from now they will "grow" your baby full time in some kind of fake womb environment.....especially women with high risk pregnancy possibilities. Kinda freaky, but I bet it goes that way a long time from now......

Loz, you are probably right. At some point they will probably be able to grow your baby for you. That would be ok for someone who otherwise would not be able to carry a child. But, feeling that precious baby move around in your stomach is the most wonderful feeling next to actually holding that baby in your arms. I absolutely loved feeling that and watching feet and hands pushing against my belly. Just knowing my little Brennan was right there was awesome.

I've never went thru it, but I know probably every woman who has given birth would feel that way, I'm sure I would too. I just figure that eventually it will move that way. Not saying it's good, but way in the future that's what I see happening.
