The other day I was sitting around, talking to my good friend the Wish Faerie and for some reason I started to tell her about you.... I told her about how you had wandered in here back in 2005, to ask a few questions as a self proclaimed beginner gardener with an indoor herb garden in my windows. I told her about how hard you worked to learn how to help your plants grow better by using the help of our members and through your own research, and that now you were one of our best teachers and Garden Helpers.... Then I went on to tell her about how your gardens always seemed to get trashed by vagrants who slept on your flowers, scumbag vandals who ripped out your flowers out of meanness, and the fact that you never knew if the gardens you created would even belong to you because of your landlord... I told her that in spite of all of the problems, that each year you were out there again, working harder, starting over, creating a bigger and better garden and hoping for the best.
As a tear fell from her eye, I told her the good news about you finally having a home of your own... You could finally create your Dream Garden and never, ever have to dread the fact that it was going to be yours FOREVER. She burst into tears at that point.... She told me to ask you if you could have any plant in the world for your new Dream Garden..... the one awesome plant you had always wished for, but knew that you would never own because you could NEVER afford it..... What would that plant be? She said to let her know when you were going to be in your new home and ready to create your Dream(Note: NEVER fib to the Wish Faerie)
I don't know why she asked me to ask you. I am just relaying a message for her...
For my part, I just want to tell you how happy I am for you to finally have a home to call your own... You have made me very proud to know you!

Awwwwwww, I've admired you too, Tammy, for all your perseverance and hard work. Your seed collecting and swapping has been phenomenal and I have started some petunia seedlings that I got from you a few weeks ago. They are doing great!!! I've never had the patience for collecting petunia seeds!

You are truly an inspiration to everyone here.

Absolutely! IT was shortly after I joined here,, you were asking for a list of recipes, who ever found you the most recipes 'would received a variety of seeds,, You sent me far more than I could have hoped for , and many are growing & have been coming back year after year since. Because of that first experience with you, I have been collecting and sharing seeds!!






That's soooooooo right Tammy Don't be shy,, To have a Fairy request a wish from a Human is a great and rare special occurrence,You are very deserving of such a wish gift!!

As I read through the tears I hardly know what to say. You all are so wonderful.

I'm thinking and thinking but this is a hard question to answer. Everyone has been so generous since I first came here that although I have an incredibly long wish list for the new place I dont know what to choose.

I haven't even begun to price the plants yet so I don't know what to say about that part of the fairy's question.

I feel like a kid in a candy store. I just don't know what to choose. I've choosen a half a dozen plants already but I've deleted all of them.

I think I'll have to go back to my first choice. That is a dwarf plum tree. I'd like the kind that produce sweet rather than tart fruit.

Wow you wouldn't believe how hard it was to choose that one. The irish moss was a close runner up. It can be really expensive too.

I'm so glad that you all are moving with me. That is if the computer survives the move. I've been praying about that because I don't want to loose touch with everyone even for a day.

Tammy I am trying to figure out when to order the climbing roses you want so they reach you right after you move in. Also need to know what zone your in so they will make it through the winters there.

i'll be in zone 6b I think, Jimmy. But you don't need to buy me the climbing roses. I couldn't put them in until I get the trellis built and that won't be until after I get the fruit trees in. This is going to be a very big long project isn't it. And I'm not sure I'll have enough sun in that location to do roses. I may have to go for a shade loving clemitis instead.

See the problem is that the trellis with be facing in a Southeast direction so the side with actually be facing southwest and northeast. So I'm thinking the side that is facing northeast and the house for that matter may be quite shady. So maybe I need to go with a vine that can take a lot of shade and sun. What do you think?

Best way to see how much sun you have in any certain place will be to go out and look where the sun is hitting during the day and go from there. At least that is what I do seems to work pretty well. 6b OK thanks will add that to your address.

I think TK and I probably started here around the same time, and I've never known anyone who would do so much research to help out a fellow member.
All of us would gladly come over and dig your garden if we could!
As for those roses, they'll take a little shade...if you get just a few hours of direct sun every day, they'll be fine...

I thought roses needed at least 6 hours of sun a day. Did I misunderstand the light requirements. Or do different types of roses need different amounts of sun? There are a bunch of different roses out there that's for sure.

It's the trees that will be shading most of the area most of the day. And they aren't there yet but I plan on planting most of them this year if possible. With the dwarf fruit trees going in first. Well after I transplant the ones I already have that is lol.

This is so exciting. And I really appreciate all that each of you have done for me in helping me become a gardener. You do so much more than help me dig in the garden. I promise I will find a way to get pictures to you all.

Tk My clematis gets 1/2 shade on the SE side of yard and they do wonderfully,, also the Large White Moon flower Vine on the same side did fantastic last year,, there is a large oak tree that shades that side after 2pm the rest of the day,, Last year I planted 2 or 3 moonvine seeds and it trailed it way over to the clematis,,and over the fence( 8 ft) into the neighbors side of their yard,, they loved them,, it looked pretty with Large white moon flower, and 4 different clematics all blooming at the same time there,,and the Hummingbirds moths Loved them! Of course this year I'm pulling up moonflower starts from the flower beds below,, and There's a lot of pulling to do,, , tho last winter I did collect quite a few seeds from the Moon flower .

They say that, but they can get by with less, the wild types grow as understory plants in the forest.

Angelbloosom thankyou for the information on the vines. I have a shed that I hope to put trellises all around. I want to do a bunch of vines in that location. (I don't really like the metal wavy stuff that it is sided with.) Shhh don't tell the owner.
