we see them year round here, but they are more active right now, and seeing it land on her foot was so cool. i could have reached out and touched it.

You did get some good shots. I like the one where you mentioned the shadow. It looks like an aircraft saying "Ready for take off!" Poised to flit off. I don't have as many as I used to. But I have a lot more bats. I wonder if there is a correlation there?

Bats are the biggest insect eaters in the animal world (Including birds) They eat eat 10 - 20 TIMES as many insects as do birds, ESPECIALLY mosquitoes. And bats stick to the mosquitoes, NOT to your hair. If you wanna get rid of the mosquitoes, encourage the bats. Here's a FREE Bat House plan on the house *Grin*

Dragonflies are also insect eaters believe it or not. They are among some of the most voracious insect predators, along with Preying Mantises, and Ladybirds.

thank you all for helping me enjoy the shots. i watched a lot more dragon fly than i did baseball. there was a green one as well, but it was camera shy.

I just love dragon flies! and I've never seen one sit on anyones toe! amazing one of kind shot there! I also like the tat. I read about dragon flies a while back and they are truely amazing insects. yes, they are mighty hunters. did anyone know they live their first 2-3 years in the water, and only fly around for a month or so?
