Hello Gardeners forum. I just recently planted my first vegie garden bed. I planted a variety of seeds. Just a few days after I planted we got some snow and cold weather. 1 z. squash came up and nothing else. We are getting more snow today so I just covered my bed with a big sheet of plastic. It has been aeound 10 days scince I planted. If anyone has any info or positive vibes for my garden that would be great. I will be really bummed if nothing comes up. I worked really hard prepping before the planting. Thanx

Hello hhouse,
Welcome Aboard..We're very glad you found us...

Just wanted to let you know I was going to move
your post into the

Also, while you're waiting for some of the other gardeners
to come thru, may I ask where you're located, or at least a growing zone.. to better to be able to help you....

!Welcome to the forum hhouse!

What veggie seeds did you plant? Cold and/or warm season?

Don't use plastic to cover plants. That can cause plants to freeze that maybe wouldn't. Look for floating row cover in the garden section, use an old sheet or lightweight blanket or paper grocery bags. If one gardens they should invest in floating row cover. It resembles very fine cheesecloth and comes in various sizes. Some large enough to cover a 30 foot veggie or flower bed.

Weezie - Since I cannot locate a member comment forum I will post my comment here.

Is it possible to require a state and zone when members register? New gardeners may not be aware of zones or that an accurate reply can depend on where they reside.

we don't need to "require" a simple question gives us all the information we need and it is friendlier.

Thanx for the info. Thankfully some broccolli and radishes came up still waiting for a bunch of other things. Sugar peas, z. squash, leeks, walla walla onions, green onions, carrots, basil, thyme, lettuce and spinach. I also planted potatos in a great big pot. I believe I am in zone 4. I did take the plastic off last night for a nice rain that we had. I will need to cover again we might be getting a light freeze later this week. I also started some artichokes and cucumbers inside I will transplant those outside later next month. Thanx for the useful info have a great day.
