of ants some carrying little white eggs around , when i mixed it up they went wild .
is it ok to use >?

should i spray it with a ant killer ?
do i need to distroy it and start over ?
thanks .

I recently purchased a product called Terro Ant Killer, in the liquid form. Its about a 3 ounce bottle. Put a few drops on a piece of cardboard (the box it comes in works well) and I would place directly on top of your compost pile. The ants eat the "poison", take it back to the nest and die. I've used it for 2 days now and where i used to see millions of ants (they were living in my flower pots on my patio)i see a few here or there. I make sure there is a little poison left out so it will eventually kill all of the ants. Two weeks tops to eliminate even the worst ant infestation the box says. It really works. I wouldn't recommend the plastic traps Terro sells, I was told they are not very effective. Hope this helps you!!!

ants will come to compost if it is too dry or too wet. they don't hurt a thing....unless they bite you. haha if your wanting something organic crushed garlic should help. you may have to put the garlic in several days in a row but they'll leave.

actually,i have used those plastic traps from TERRO and found them to work quite well. basically they hold a sugar substance infused with i believe borax.
the borax is what does the killing, the sugar is just to attract them. ants had invaded my house last year and i put a few of these traps out and for a few days i had conga lines of ants heading to them and eventually no ants at all in the house.they take the sugar /borax mixture back to the nest to share and it wipes out the colony.
