well yesterday I helped my DH plant a Crimson King maple tree---

very large---it came in a 7 or 10 gallon pot--but it is not so healthy, we had bad wind on the way bringing it home.

Today I went out & bought a Butterfly Bush--the plan was to get teh new variety of the multi colored type---or a bkack knight--but i saw one called "Peacock" and fell in love.

it is going to flower about the same color as the purplish colored lilacs--I am so excited.

Yay Carol.

Your maple will be fine, just keep it watered. I've stressed apple trees like that on the one hour drive to get them home.

Still raining........

The rain has stopped here. I've got almost everything out of the garden.

Nothing is currently blooming except the bell flowers.

And I haven't gotten a thing done.

I'm still waiting on DH to hoe up my garden space...can't plant yet but the few weeds are driving me nuts.

I'll be so glad to be released from this surgery and get my hands in the dirt.

So today I am just making my list of what veggies I'll plant...still counts.

This was a long weekend in Canada eh!...

I took Friday as well as Monday...

On Friday I planted spinach in a 2 foot x 5 foot sector and swiss chard in the same amount of area. Carrots in a 5 x 5 square foot patch and green onion in a 2 x 4 area. Then the wax beans green and yellow -- mmmm --- beans....they are in 6 - 10 foot rows every 2 to 3 inches growing against stucco wire for support.

I have a 60 to 70 cyan peppers spread and 20 tomato plants.

I never got to harden off the transplants so I put a polyethylene sheet over the plants to prevent sun burn. The peppers and tomato went in on Saturday and Sunday and did not have any wilting at all, I don't even get that when I do the harden off... I will put in 6 squash and 3 egg plant with a 15 foot row of pole beans in better weather....

So every thing WAS going good till about an hour ago and the winds came in and are pounding my shade cover. the peppers are up against stucco wire on stakes getting slammed against the wire. It is going to rain for 4 or 5 days.

I wish I was not always doing battle with Mother Nature...

The infinitesimally small seed that produces the giant is the winner...

Cliver you're lucky you get to plant so early. We'll get frost for another 3 weeks at least here.

Tried to persuade DD to hoe up my veggie spot...didn't work.

today I mowed the yard, dug up a car load of plants, irises, ditch lilies, hostas and 2 rose bushes, I came home and planted all that. Then watered everything and changed the dogs pools, I use part of their water to water plants with. I've had my third shower for the day I think I'm done.

I am carefully watching my Egyptian Walking onions. They have blooms on and the bulbets are there but they aren't loose. I don't know when to harvest but I plan to try. If you know of how to do this I would appreciate a heads up. Other than that, I'm just trying to decide which pot to put the last peony in. I'm so fussy about these little darlings. I hope they make it.

Then there is another attempt to get the shade evergreens out of the ground. I need a saw to cut that silly tap root. Talk about strong. But I really want to take a few of them with me. They would make great topiary subjects I think.

I've never been able to get an evergreen to make it after I've moved one. I hope you have better luck

I had alot of truble getting this one rose bush up this morning, someone had cut it off level with the ground and then it shot up shoots from that, so I had the cut those loose from the main plant and when I did it made 4 plants, I took one yesterday and got the other 2 today

I hope your roses recover well. Where are you getting them from?

I managed to dig up one small evergreen and send it to JV he said it survived so I have high hopes. Even though these are several years older than the one I sent him.

Just keep an eye Belinda, chances are those extra plants are suckers. They'll have more thorns and usually a difference in the rose.

Still haven't done anything out there. I need help...

A friend came over and we dug up two of the evergreens and a bell flower. I think that was all. Now all that is left is the front container stuff.

Today I planted 2 penta's in my flower bed in the back yard up against the house.---that was harder than it sounds---I first had to trtansplant some stray coneflower plants.--I had left tehm to grow because i thougth my sister and my DD 9val) wanted them.--but I got rid of all but 2 or 3---
Then I cleaned out my gardening bench & straightened up the area. (its in the garage so leaving it 'go' was not an option)

Isn't it great to get things planted. I am looking forward to getting my fingers in the soil at the new place. I just want to know what it feels like. I know my pitiful amount of flowers are going to get lost in that big lot, but I have time to watch it fill in.
