Hunting any information on the Musa Banana plant .. Mine is indoors so far. The leaves on top are 24 inches long. Some one said it is hardy to -20º????????Anyone know ?

:list: Thanks Bill, He didnt say if it was hardy in zone 5 ......Given to me from a seed person2 years ago.. I didnt expect it to grow..

They are said to be hardy to -20 with sufficient mulch for protection. I'm in zone 7 and mine always come back, but not from the parent plant, rather from the baby offshoots. They act sort of like elephant ears...the parent plant dies, but the babies survive and regrow the following spring.

Wow then do you think there is hope for western Penna? Is yours in the sun or part sun? It is adorable ... Do you get bananas?????? I know I go bananas!!LOL

Mine is in part sun, mostly evening sun. It has spread out some, but mine don't ever get big enough to produce bananas. There are some at the university gardens here and they're huge! And they often get bananas...they look rather odd, too...not like a real banana.
