I haven't grown rutabagas before but plan to this year. I plan on seeding them in mid June. But the problem is that I am using stuff to prevent weeds germinating. As soon as my second crop of carrots, corn and some flowers sprout I will put the stuff all over the garden. What about sprouting the rutabaga seeds inside- maybe between damp paper towels? I don't normally ever need to do that with my seeds. Many people love doing that but I always worry about my housecats getting into them since you have to put them somewhere warm. I'll try it though if it is okay with rutabaga seeds.
