I used one once. If I remember, it wasn't bad in soil that was already worked a bit, like in a garden between plants. But it gave me the impression that it would not do so good in hard packed clay. Nor in very rocky soil. But it was years ago. I might need to go borrow it again to check it out. I don't have a lot of clay to deal with. But the rocky thing I can do.

My neighbor has one, and last year she let me borrow it. I actually really liked it. I have clayish, rocky soil here and it took a little elbow grease but the one she had was pretty solidly made and did a decent job for me.
I mean to buy one and I'd totally forgot.
They had some of the brand name ones at Ollies bargain outlet for $12.99 a few weeks back.
Well we have great topsoil here ~no clay ~no rocks. I'm built on what used to be a hay field.
I am thinking it would be easier to mix in compost and manure with it then scooping with a shovel. Cheapest I can find them here is $43.99 plus tax...welcome to Canada

Gas is about $8 in England....when you see somewhere that has much higher gas than yourself it makes you stop and sort of be thankful for a split second.
I have one, bought it when I first starting making my garden an loved it. Works out your back and arms though. I've also used in my compost bin to mix it up. Was easier than a shovel. I think mine was about $30 when I bought it.
Well, I found one at Canadian Tire on clearance for $10, it's a no name(Yardworks) version and made a bit smaller than the Claw...but at that price it will certainly do.
Thanks for all the input.
