My mom gave me these red plastic trays. I have about 12 and about 18 plants. Anyway I put them on because I didn't know if there would be cutworms at my field. But I wonder if I want to keep them on. I am not going to use them for watering since I have soaker hoses and won't they cause a lot of splashing? Maybe it would be better to use mulch or straw?
they are sort of like this
Mine are longer than that and have larger center holes. What do you think?

As long as the hole is big enough for the stem, I'd just leave the thing there and run the hose under it if you have to.
