I know it's a good thing to see birds patroling the garden, but just wondering what they are after. I have mostly tomatoes and peppers. (and a few squash, cucumber, chives, and native (tx) flowers and plants.)

Cardinals are seed eaters but do go after insects in spring and Summer when they have young, which, I suspect, is WHAT they are doing in your garden right now. Don' worry. They won't eat much.

They are very welcome visitors to your garden and they are NOT after your veggies or blooms.

cool deal. I didn't think so. I mainly see them on the ground. you got me thinking about them feeding babies. now that I think about it, they seem to fly off in one direction more than any other. gotta get down that way when it cools off today to do some mowing down the trail. may just take my camera and look for a nest. yesterday afternoon they were bathing in the water between the rows! (I had the sprinkler going) it was really fun to watch.

Birds LOVE splashing spraying water. Whenever I soak the weeping willow branches above my feeders, the birds flock in by the dozens to play in the dripping water.
