Note to self. Don't go trying to weed a garden that is severely overgrown with weeds on a full stomach. I'm taking a break for now but I think I managed to get at least halfway done with the weeding I had left to do.
Well I went over to a friends who is also moving and not taking her dinningroom table with her so I snagged it for my potting table. It's really to good for that purpose but no reason to let it go to the dump.
Today I dig up the flowers that are in the front containers. And that is going to use up the rest of the pots I have.
Tomorrow is the pack out. So today I've been cleaning all of my tupperware drawers so they are ready to go.
Crossing my fingers that all of my flowers make it and like the new place.
I did manage to get out to harbor tool on monday. They have the greatest Memorial Day sales. I got the jewlery screwdriver set and a wood carving set and the bill was under 10.00. I love that place. I'm going to miss it after I move.
Tamara, the day lilies or the asian or a combination of both? It's the asians that have a short bloom life right? I'm still trying to learn new things.
I am determinted that I will have a four season garden. How I'm going to pull if off with very little money I don't know but that is the goal.
I think I've stopped planning for a little while because I really need to get there and walk around. See if I'm right about how much sun the different areas are getting.
I still have loads of stuff for sun and I'd really like to keep some of it.
And I want the veggie garden all pretty much in one place but not by the road. That might be too tempting come harvest time. So I'm having to rethink things.
Whoa....what a lovely place you have there! looks like farming country. good to see them 'kids' working hard. psst...tell E she is working too hard. maybe she needs to take a break. ha ha

Thanks Criket, so very much-----and no they did not get Too dirty did they???---However it might be because they got smart in the end--they each got their DH's to dig out the holes for the flowers they were planting---smart ladies---
BTW--Em also fixed up my pavers that were out of line in my landscaping in the back of the house.--so she actually did MORE for me than Valarie.--not that i am keeping track.
We are in 'town' (pop 1000)--but where my house is at used to be a field--so there are not a whole lot of people around me, and each home that is near me sites on about 1/2 acre each.

people are having to replant corn here left and right--and more than once too--I hear if they do not get it in by June 6th all is lost--(But DH says there is a 90 day variety that might be able to make it yet.
the rains just will not stop.--my DH says if the rains do not stop soon the wheat is going to be worthless as well---poor farmers.
I wanted to mention I bought a burgundy gaillardia today--to go with all my otheres--yea me!!!!

Well DH mowed the grass the other day for me...at all different heights what a mess. He never got a chance to weed wack anything, it started to rain.
It's been raining non stop although today it's supposed to clear up for 48 hours, hope so. I have little weedsgrowing in the flower beds.
Hoping today I can get DD to dig out a dead cedar for me so I can replace it with an extra currant bush that's growing on the side of my house. I am sticking to the 'not buying any more trees or bushes' so now I'm robbing Peter to pay Paul, as they say
Also need to get my veggie plot hoed again....seems like I have more of a 'to do' list then a 'what did you do' list.
~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
Well today I got two small flower beds weeded...it feels so good to be digging in the dirt again...but the rain chased me back in. I also got a hosta divided and replanted.

Well, I got the sick apple tree cut down, my lily bulbs planted, my veggie plot all ready to be planted next week and I just planted some sunflower seeds.

I planted some DBL Purple Datura seed I got from Diane---if it is too late well at least I will have green this year.
and I transplanted my columbine--it "migrated" to next to the foundation of the garage---so I moved it.
Then I moved valarie's lilac bush to a bigger pot as I do not think she will betaking it to plant it this year any more--and she does not always water like she should anyway--so it is good here now for a year or 2 more.

I watered this morning, and most of the plants are doing ok, the brugs didn't wilt, but the transplanted annual salvia looked a bit droopy, so I;'m going to water them extra well later tonight

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee
Well I moved dirt. I feel like a human backhoe lol. But I'll get past this stage and on into others. This too shall pass. And this is easier than getting on my knees and weeding so I should enjoy it while I can.
I don't plan to do anything in the garden today. I'm going to head for church at around 10:00 and hope I find it ok. And before that I'm just enjoying the garden forum. The perfect day in my opinion.
i cut back the weedsgrowing up in the walk way, now they are cut, going to pour vinegar on some and boiling water on others (depends on where they are at, close to the edges will get the boiling water). i also trimmed the lower branches of my willow tree. i'm trying to get it tall enough to walk under. i love it, and it shades my pond nicely, but it is annoying because it isn't strong enough to stand up straight enough yet. so i have to cut the lower branches to take the weight off so it can stand up. felt good to do something for a change.
