You know a while back I was complaining that the double daffodils I bought turned out to be all single, well three out of 20 turned out to be doubles and have just bloomed, boy am I disappointed (they were prepackaged bulbs) I have some allium blooming, and not much, except for the annuals I bought: fuchsia, impatiens, lobelia, pinks, petunias, marigolds, snapdragons and my mini rose. Some perennials, I have have pink columbine and the wild Canadian columbine (Aqualegia canadensis), a blue salvia, white star of Bethlehem, and I see buds on the Hollyhocks. I also found some Helleborine (Epipactis helleborine) making it back, and I moved 2, and hope they survive

On my way to school (I walk, a good 20 mins of excercise lol) I saw a white clematis in bloom, stonecress (I think), tree peony, bleeding hearts, pulmonia (lungwort), bellis perennis 9english daisy), anemone, and a few more I can't remember.

Columbine 4 feet tall? Gorgeous! What do you call them? A must have to find!

The Bleeding Heart is beautiful. I had one from my mom's garden and she was always jealous because mine was bigger than hers. It was looking kinda sad the other day and I think they really should be in shade - correct?

Such pretty flowers in Faye's garden - thanks for sharing them, loz!

I have a feather leaf bleeding heart that is in my shade garden - it gets early morning sun. It's the first time one has actually come back for me, but it's also the second summer for that garden. The other areas I had them in were too sunny, sorry to say, Carol. I'm wondering if Tamara has better luck in her full sun because it doesn't get quite as hot up there?

Mom has the most awesome roses ever....they are all over the place, all different colors and types. Now, here across the street I have no luck with roses....everyone I've ever planted has died.

Probably so, it's not like anything would ever get sun scorched here haha I have lots of shade plants in full sun.

Very beautiful pics Loz. Your mom certainly has some pretty flowers.

yep you are likley right---when I talked to the owner of the nursery I was at he showed me the beeding hearts and then said yes you reallly do not want to put tehm out in full sun (I had explained my yard to him).

ah, if only had a place for a shade garden---oh how I wish.--perhaps spme day I will live someoplace where there is shade--then I can plant a whole different set of flowers & plants. :list:

Carol - I had said that for 13 years living here, and then last year we took out 4 large overgrown and mostly dead bushes under our large white birch tree and voila - my shade garden - FINALLY!!! I hope you get one there sometime soon too!

Here are the only 2 yellow irises blooming for me this year.
I usually have lots - don't know why only 2 this time?

[Linked Image]

And... I planted 2 peony bushes several years ago. Between the 2 of them, I only had 1 bloom, and then one of the bushes died. The other has been hanging on very small, but this year actually has 2 blooms - I am THRILLED!!!

Carol, you could always plant a little fence or such as a back drop then plant in front of it.

What direction does your house face?
