It's hard to see in the pic but it has a deep pink undertone into the orange. A strange colour, hard to explain.

Gaillardias are strange plants. I have a burgandy one that was completely burgandy last year, but this year is has yellow edges like yours. I have a seedling from it that has even more yellow. I think they often mutate and/or revert back to a parent plant. There are so many types of Gaillardia now: Arizona, Goblin, Kobold, Fanfare, Oranges and Lemons, Amber Wheels, and so on.

It will be interesting to see what blooms from yours this year. Gaillardias are strange plants. I think they often mutate and/or revert back to a parent plant. I was wondering about it reverting back, Juniegirl mentioned the fact that they maybe do that,, ~ Thanks Alan

Ohhhhhh Man I now have a mutated center of one,, ![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/yard%20and%20flowers/DSCF0004b.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e374/2thtek/yard%20and%20flowers/DSCF0023-1.jpg) I did a google image search on these flowers and evidently these do form mutated blooms occasionally tho I never found an explanation for it

That is so weird, Diane, but I really like that way that last one looks! Too bad you can't get more to grow like that! You'd have your own variety and it could have your name on it!!!
