my nelly has been done with the blooms for a week or so now - the flowers were holding really well for a couple of weeks until a heavy storm took the petals off. it was really nice this year (only had a few small flowers last year).
and the peony i transplanted a few years ago FINALLY bloomed!! i've been waiting for weeks for the buds to open...only one has so far and there are only three...i was going to dig it up and raise it up a bit (thought it might be too deep and that's why it hadn't bloomed yet). i'm so glad i didn't touch it!
actually, nelly bloomed pretty early this year - the blooms held for almost three weeks and have been gone for a week now!
temps during bud formation affect the color...we had some early really warm weather this year.
basically no spring - went from mild winter to HOT summer! we're in the first heat wave and summer hasn't even started yet!
your nelly is much bushier than mine is...i hadn't pruned it properly. did a bit of pruning last year and it's filled out a bit now, so i'll have to be sure to do some more pruning this year. maybe it'll be as full as yours next season!

gorgeous barb just beutiful my friend! hey there what kind of clematis is that? and where did u get it?
Hi toposh
The clematis is called Nellie Mosser....... It has been here for a while, So I arent sure of where it was bought .. Probably at some store here.......My first I think.
Thanks .........for looking
Ps .......Becky has a datura blooming from my seeds......She is so happy to be able to grow flowers......This is her first attempt..
thank you for the information! and becky should feel so porud of herself im sure its just gorgous! please have her take a pic i want to see it shes just like her aunt she has a green thumb!
pleaseee... Betty Crocker aint got nothing on me =)
Did someone say peonies? I love peonies and yours look fantastic. I also love your clematis. That is a wow-er. 2 years from now when I've turned my clay into soil I'll be looking to trade you for seeds of that one.
Peony come from roots ,,,,,,seeds??????? I can give roots.. This fall when I send tulips , Perhaps I will give you a root or 2.. It takes quite a while to form one like mine....................
toposh I am hunting a photo......Just remember she has less flowers than you.. Just begun.
I made a mess of my post lol. I have 6 peonies either here or on order so I don't need anymore of them well other than a double bloom yellow and orange one that is. But, when you harvest your clematis seeds I'd love it if you set aside a few for me. As you know I believe in specimen gardens and I'd love to have that clematis in my trellis garden around my shed. Or atleast that's the plan. Right now I have my onions planted back there. You wouldn't believe the amount of weeding I have to do. It's going to take some work...it really is.
Tk That is fine...Our heads all get clogged.... Now I will collect Nelly Moser seeds, but I must say, I have never been able to get any to grow for me.Some lady is tryin to do some for me.......It is very difficult I been told.
I bought it as a plant.. Took quite a while to do that..However in a warmer climate I think it happens quicker...... seeds are very hard to germinate.....i never got one to do it.
difficult huh? Well maybe I better pass on that one then. Maybe I'll see a plant sometimes. I do have seeds for two other clematis. I'll probably be starting those next year. We'll see. There is so much to do lol.
Dificult or not , I will save you some seeds....I been trying all year and still have seed in the hot cable..Not one bloomed. THey have to be stratified to grow so I did that, nothing happened. :ding:Glad your busy.
