i have potted geraniums and this is my first time having them. they are in need of dead heading, however not sure where i dead head at. do i pinch them off at the stem or what

Yep, I just use some small pruners and clip mine off down at the bottom of the stem with the dead flowers on it. thumbup It'll send up new stems for the new flowers.

I used to worry about that too. I've had geraniums for several years. usually I just pinch them with my finger nail when I see them starting to die. I guess the farther back you pinch/cut them the better. the entire stem the flower is on will die back. there is a proper way to do it I'm sure. someone will be along shortly to tell you more. it may also depend on what zone your in?
