Hello everyone,

My wife and I are amateur gardeners and have spent the last few years getting our garden from a complete mess (rubble and weeds everywhere when we moved in to the flat) to a managable state. There is one plant that has been in our garden and each year gets bigger and bigger, it is one of the few original plants we had in the garden. Now it is huge and looks as though it will flower soon but being amateurs we have no idea what it is or how it will look even if it does flower.

I have added below three links that show the plant and wonder if anyone can help us learn more about it or identify it.

Thought I would mention we live in the UK. I just noticed this forum is a US forum.

Wow! What an interesting plant. I would love to know what this is myself. It looks like it's getting ready to bust out with some blooms.
Be sure to get some pics when it does!!!

You could try posting on some UK horticulture sites and even on University sites that have horticulture departments. We've done that here especially when we're stumped.

i'd love to know what that is, it looks like a lillie of some kind. from the base stems. i will second kalar, let us see when it blooms!

Hey!! I got it!! Euphorbia Lathyris. Common names: Caper spruge, mole plant, sassy jack. Slightly toxic if eaten. Irritating if milky sap gets on skin.

Blooms are barely discernible so that must have been the little yellow 'pieces' we could hardly see.

It IS a weed.

That it is!! If I saw that in my yard and didn't know what it was, I would certainly allow it go get on with its bad self.
