This is my first season and I want to make hanging baskets.

I know alot depends on whether I want to put them in full or partial shade, but does anyone have any ideas they can share with me on what annuals look great together?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I use Bacopa to trail in my shade baskets and wave petunias in my sun baskets.

Is there a certain colour that your leaning towards? What's your favorite annual?

Hi Tamara

Thanks for answering my question. I love petunias. When I transplant anything, I usually only use one type of flower per pot. I would like to use the trail like you suggested. I don't really have any particular color in mind. I do like the wave petunias also. I heard that if you have a flat type leaf plant, butterflies will come and sit on them because they like a flat surface.

ferns and coleus would be nice. My coleus always gets bare bottoms so filling them in with the ferns works well.

My shade pots and baskets have coleus for the middle and bacopa to trail, you can use begonias in them as well.

Sun pots and baskets you can put anything in the center and use ivies, wave petunias and also nasturtiams(spelling?)for trailing.

I've had pots and baskets with regular geraniums and trailing geraniums mixed as well.

The combinations are endless, you can just use wave petunias in a basket as well, just pinch a few shoots every now and then for it to become full and not so leggy.

Do you want lots of height in your pot or more trailing growth?

Nasturtiams(I've got to check the spelling on that word lol ) draw butterflies from all around. They love them.

Varigated vinca vine does well for trailing and has small purple flowers. You can mix it with most anything because it does well in sun and shade.
