So I was brave.....I knew Jiffy said that you could lop off a Dracaena and it would send out side shoot under where you cut it. For a long time I would glance at it and think about it, but I wasn't brave enough. I thought mine would die and it wouldn't grow out the sides....

BUT, it did! Greatly, in 5 different spots! clap Yay me! I finally went thru with it. lol

So just so you all know, it does work.....should've trusted Jiffy. Just figured I'd have bad luck and mine wouldn't work right. rolz lol

This Dracaena was REALLY tall....and the lower leaves were all falling off and leaving a big bare stem, so I'm happy it worked and I went thru with it.

You go girl...I cut mine back all the time.

You could of also put the plant tips you cut off in water and they would have sprouted roots....more plants for free. thumbup

I did that! grin I stuck it in one of the big planters on the side stairs just to see if it would take! clap

I have a question though.

Once those 5 pieces branch out what happens if you cut one of those branches down? Would it stem out even more?

I think it would have to be 'old wood' for it to re-stem...not really sure though, just my opinion.

you don't have to wait for old wood thumbup looking good. but you do need to let it get at least 4-6 "rings" on it.

Loz can you post some pictures of your Dracaena with the side shoots. I have one too and know someday I'll have to cut it down. Right now it's growing straight up and not loosing leaves on the bottom just yet.

That pictures up at the top? You can see the 5 little side shoots coming out of the trunk underneath where I cut it off. They are growing pretty well now!

Boy that's really weird...I can't see your picture.

Where are you uploading your pictures, I know we have some picture sites blocked on our network and I'm wondering if that's not the case with your pictures.

I was just browsing around and found another of your post with pictures of your Hollyhocks and I can't see them either, yet I saw the others gals pictures. This is so weird. I do remember seeing pictures of your pond a while back, so I'm not sure what's going on.

That is really strange......I use Photobucket, which is what most of our users seem to use......

Did you try to clear your cache? Sometimes that can do strange things......

And yep Tam, it's really sprouting good now! It's in sun until about 11am then all shade. Seems to like it out there. thumbup

Loz I use photobucket as well so that should not be a problem. What do you mean with clearing my cache?

Good, that's what I use too. If you go up to the tool menu to options, and then the privacy tab, you can click on settings and check to clear your cache when you shut down firefox. I do that each time I exit! thumbup

It's very strange that others can see the pictures and you can't, it really has me stumped if this doesn't work.
