Hey guys,
I've always loved the spontaneous twists and bends in the Contorta, or Harry Lauder's Walking Stick. managed to overfertilize the two I had earlier this year and burnt them right up. even though I've been doing this for about three years now and thought I had a handle on it. heheh, oh well, live and learn.

aaaaaaaanyway, yes, I was able to get my hands on two others a few weeks ago. they looked fine at the nursery, but they're getting to be in pretty poor shape it seems. lots of my little trees end up with burnt crispy leaf edges. anyone got any ideas as to the possible cause? I see it with maples, gums, and most of my leafy trees. a little quick reading points me to inconsistent watering and drought stress.

what's the best time to water, anyway? if I can't do it before first light, is it okay to do it at night? I've heard that watering at night can promote mold, disease, and pests.

perhaps I just need to pay closer attention to my watering.

i'd say, can you get a soaker hose and put it on a timer? that might solve your problem. i wish i had a harry lauders!

haha, yeah, I actually bought a soaker hose earlier this year for my vegetable garden, but never set it up. it's my first year with it, and I do suppose it could be doing better :)

my problem is combination laziness and the late hours I keep :)

yeah, the harrys were an extravagant purchase, I'll admit. I mean, who wants bent trees anyway? haha :) were it not for my side job, I wouldn't have that "luxury" :)

so hey, do you think it's related to my watering regimen?
I guess they really do have to be ready for the sun early on, huh?
