My Nanny used to make the BEST coleslaw and it is pretty much the only coleslaw that I used to touch. Maddie's birthday party is going to be a cookout kind of deal and I'd like to make some coleslaw (yes, I know it sometimes has mayo in it....but it'll be OK) for the party. Anyone have a nice creamy coleslaw recipe? I would love a few different recipes to try out, please. :)

cabbage, carrots for color, (i hate onions, but i know some who put grated onion in theirs), mayo, and sugar.

a head of cabbage, shredded (lots of people will use a head of the green and a 1/4 or 1/2 of the purple)
2-3 large carrots shredded
1-2 cups mayo
1-3 tablespoons of sugar
salt and pepper to taste. that's how we made it on the bayou.

Jenn--I have no real recipe--but I put Miracle whip into a glass or bowl. I add salt & pepper to taste.--and perhaps a cap ful of vinegar. then I add enough milk to this. I mix it well, until it is smooth with a wisk or fork to blend it--it gets all creamy.--keep adding milk until it is a bit thicker consistancey than a salad dressing.

mix with your shredded cabbage.-

My sister adds a bit of sugar---it is just what you like.
purlpe and green cabbage would give a nice presentation.--

(people will assume you fussed extra) thumbup

I make my slaw very much like Jiffymouse only I put my cabbage through a food chopper and chop it up very fine. It looks and taste like KFC's slaw. I may add just a bit more sugar tho and a little bit of milk to make it real creamy. Everyone always ask me my secret to my slaw, no secret at all. lol.
I guess the chopping of the cabbage very small makes it.
