But really - those are GORGEOUS!!! Great finds! Each one is prettier than the last!
I could have gotten the first 2 earlier this summer, at 2 different nurseries, but these were the very expensive places so I held back. I'm so glad you were able to get them at Lowes though! I think maybe a visit to mine is in order very soon, but with my luck they won't have any since this one doesn't get in great plants unfortuntely. It's probably a good thing though, since the deer loves echinacea here...
Hope you enjoy these Diane - where have you planted them?
Thanks all! I have them planted where the Black eyed susans ( Up along same side of the fence as the Birdfeeder planter,), didn't come back this year for some odd reason,, that area gets about 6 hours of full sun everyday,, and further down is the fanfare and the blue mountain cone flower is beyond that, Btw it's getting bigger and bigger now Lynne so maybe blooms by Sept?? They had sooooo many of these at Lowes and they didn't dead head and seeds were just falling off at the touch,, the soil in all three of mine had many seeds just laying on top so I got an extra bonus with the buy,,

nothing wrong with that! I especially love the 'Harvest Moon'! I've never had the patience to grow cone's since they are biennieals. I didn't know lowes sold them already in bloom. and you got some with seeds!

I go to Lowes on a mission everytime I go there, I only shop there for their flowers,, I never go inside the store,, Their gardening area is so very organized, they have their perennials on the first 4 tables,, starting with the lowest growing plants first for shade,, second two tables are full sun so those are the tables I always go straight to,, so they were easy to spot, I'm screwed if they ever change their format of plant placement,,

I guess I will have to pay more attention next time I go--which will be monday it seems --I always thought it was just a hodge podge in mine--perhaps there is SOME method to their madness after all???
but I AM going now for sure........

WOW Diane - I wish our Lowes was organized like that - it is a mess of drying out plants usually! If I'm not lucky enough to be there on a day of plant delivery it's a waste of time and gas to go there!!!
Diane, I'm convinced you live in a green house somewhere. I'll bet the humidity is making your hair fuzzy.
I wish I did live in a green house . No humidity here it's been sooooo dry here,, very bad spring and summer for rains. My water Bill is thru the roof watering everything I want to absolutely save from the heat,, it will get to 104 today not a drop of rain in the forecast suppose to stay that hot all week,, My hair is very very straight and thin all the heat does to it is make it even flatter than it already is,, humidity only makes me sweat more making it stick to my head,

It's a disease caused by leaf hoppers - affects mostly in coneflowers. They are dwarfed and mutant. These pictures are pictures of Purple coneflowers that have been healthy for years!
I was at Lowe's yesterday and went to look at the plants. They had no coneflowers at all! I was disappointed. They didn't have many perennials for that matter. So...I didn't get anything....as far as plants go anyways. We have to paint our 2nd garage so we were there buying paint. Our house and attached garage is sided but not the other garage. I don't mind painting but it is a big garage.
awwwwwwwwww Jessica and Carol I'm sorry,, I was wondering if all Lowes carry the same flowers,, I noticed on the tag these were brought in from Florida,, So I figured they wouldn't go all the way to Ill or MN, , I'll go back to Lowes and see if any of them need some of the browned flower heads removed,, for ya
Naaaaaaaaaah I'm too scaredy to do that,, and not buy the plant

I Know your'e so right Tamara,, But what if I get caught,? I couldn't even blame Cindy,, she's too far away,, and you three are even further away and I will be just stuck out there by my self with a handful of seeds and no intent to buy a plant,,, You guys are trying to get me in twouble

Very nice htf! Though a bit too red for my taste - I'd prefer it more orange.
Just as I suspected... my Lowes had a very poor selection of plants yesterday and most of them were crispy fried! They even had a display of some very browned fuschias in large hanging pots - the signs said "take me home", so I thought they were free? Nooooo - they were on clearance for $5.99!!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!! The plants were all but dead!
Diane - you do remember that there are those of us on this website who are capable of getting a cake into jail, right??? (or were you not a member when that long thread was going on?) GET THOSE seeds!

I'd better wear my scrubs to work tomorrow that have a lot of pockets in them Keeping in mind the whole time Tamara words of Advice,, Helping deadhead to promote more blooms ,, Anddddddd then they'd have more sales,,,,, * Gotta make them believe it's benefiting them* and looking for a trashcan ,, ,Okay Gotta it Tamara!!
HTF!!!!!!!!!!!! WOWWWWWWWWW I love that one! The color tones in it is like that of the Mexican fire bush,, I love the tips of the petals with that golden fireryness to it,,

Diane--While I know nothing of the thread Lynne talks about--I promise to find out--AND I promise to be a quick study and learn how to bake such a cake if the need arrises.
AND____TaDa !!
I live closer to you than my other 2 "partners in crime", so I am guessing the "cake baking" will fall upon me, HUH???

I've got one better,, I'll just print this card and take it with me

Diane - make sure you have that card with you at all times!!!
Afterall... you never know when a seed might jump out at you , or better yet, a cutting might be laying on the floor somewhere and you just might have to "rescue" it!!!
Carol - since you are closer... make sure that cake is regulation size, and the favorite flavor of the prison guards!
