ive noticed somewhat of a trend this year that my hummingbirds are
actually sharing the feeder this year rather then fighting one another off as well as buzzing any other bird in the area. today,i actually saw two male rubys sitting on opposite sides of the feeder at the same time feeding. is this an indication that foodsupplys are scarce in my area? ive read that they will somewhat stop thier battling when food supplys are scarce. if that is the case, while i think its really neat to see em getting along,i may have to put some other feeders out, just to help em. i have a big feeder,i think somrthing like 20 oz's and they seem to empty it within 3 days or so. id like to assure they come back every year and if my area gets imprinted as one that is hard to get food in,im afraid they wont come back. any input?

Global Warming is wreaking havoc with many species worldwide. Some species are outright disappearing, while others change their behavioral patterns or even their range. I'm not sure What's going on. My first hummer, a female, didn't appear until the day before yesterday. Yesterday, I cleaned and put out THREE Feeders, and my Red Cannas are about to bloom, so we shall see what happens.

I try to take one day at a time -- but sometimes several days attack me at once.

It's so hot and dry here I have to change the feeders constantly. I usually do it weekly but I'm to every other day because of bacteria forming. They are drinking a lot but my feeders are 20 oz and I have out 5 now. It's messy to change those things when they have the food in them.

Just put a little nectar in each Sheri, if they drink it up they'll go to the next one. It's a shame that you lose good nectar.
