Hi! I'm new to the community and what an awesome site!!! I have a pothos that has developed a tiny vine like thing that has just grown overnight. It is coming out of one of the stems and is weaving it around most of the leaves in the pot. Any suggestions on what it is and if I should do anything to it? Thanks!!!
I guess that it could be a root. It came out of the stem close to 1/2 inch from the dirt and went up-- it's a light green color -- it is now shooting off little things that look similar to the roots that normally grow on the stem. does this help?
hhmmm.......now it seems like your describing a new growth, a new leaf? but you would know if it was a new leaf. and I can't see a new leaf being viney and growing around other leaves like you describe. you got me stumped on this one. maybe a pic would help. in my experience with pothos it's either a root, stem, or leaf. very interesting!

pothos will put out roots along the stems. the purpose is for the plant to anchor itself to the tree it's growing on.
pothos will grow just fine in a planter or hanging basket...they do their best growth when they are growing UP something, though. a trellis, a totem, a piece of wood, cork bark, ect.
you'll be surprised at how well it grows AND at the changes in the leaves as the plant matures!!
Ok I'm trying to post pictures now -- hopefully it will work. This "root" or whatever it is is growing close to six inches a day. Since these pictures were taken it has continued to grow and wrap itself around anything it can find.
the pics are too small to see it too well. looks like some kind of support that these will grow that will help to attach the plant to whatever so that it can grow upwards.
mine has never had that type of growth - i've got two different types of epipremnum and neither has that type of growth.
maybe there's some other plant growing in the soil?
