hello again....
here's hoping someone can help me out. I have a plant I received a cutting off of from a friend in Georgia. It's a low growing (approx. 3-4") green plant with leaves that are approximately 1"-3" long. The thing is, the flowers grow on stalks approximately 2'-4' tall that shoot up out of the ground cover. The flowers have 6 petals that form a small (only 1" long) trumpet. The petals are blood red from the stalk and become a lighter shade of red towards the tips. The tips are fluted and are a greenish yellow in color with blood red drops. My hummingbird, George, just loves it. Once the leaves have expended, they leave round pods. The pods hold the seeds which are paper thin, black and round. I don't have a picture of this lovely plant. It is hardy to Ohio, even tho I brought it back from Georgia. It has survived the past two Ohio winters and has thrived quite well. I even got more flowers and taller stalks this year. So, if anyone has any clue as to what this is, I would truly appreciate it. thnx

Try looking up spider lilies. Or some kind of crinum.

Could it be a red alstroemeria? Or perhaps a crinum as mentioned?

I love the sweet scents wafting in the breeze. I stop to admire the vibrant colors of all living things. And people think me odd. Then ODD I am!!!
