My neighbor has been growing this on her deck all summer in 2 large pots, and it's been in flower all summer! I love the colors and the fact that it's been in bloom so long. It looks so familiar to me, but I just cannot remember?

Help?
(shhhhh - don't tell her that I took a flower while watering the plants for them while they are away on a cruise! notme)

Diane - I had pinched off that one bloom days ago - it is still in the same shape on my kitchen counter - not in water, nothing - just sitting there!!! Almost doesn't look real!

Alstromeria are a bulbous root. They multiply like the dickens but not invasively.

Not all alstromeria are created equal. Here is mine from an overhead view from a couple years ago.. Each flower tube is about 1 1/2 inches.

that is beautiful! i knew they wouldn't all be equal, but i still want some. scott is going to dig some new flower beds for me (he decided it is easier than mowing) and i will put them there. so i won't get them until he digs, because he is slower than i am haha

I can send you some of mine along with your worms this fall, Jiffy. (you might need to remind me of both)
I haven't seen them available as naked bulbs anywhere. Just in pots already growing in their season. The bulbs might dry too fast or something to make it commercially viable. But mine I bare rooted from a neighbor and planted at leisure and didn't lose any.

Very pretty, Diane. I will keep on watching for them here. I have just never seen them in bulbs like that. Cool.
