I have 5 feeders. The hummers suck the bottom out of 3 of them and don't touch the other 2. So I'm trying to trick the birds. I've cleaned them, filled them, and hung them out in different spots. We'll see what happens now.
I now have at least TWO Hummers and three feeders. When the two of them are not fighting each other for control of the feeders, they go from feeder to feeder spending at least 30 seconds at each feeder in turn. Then, they perch above or next to the feeders to drive the other one away if it shows up. The NEW hummer is a female and has an ODD white patch on top of her head, like a Catholic Monk so I call her Fra Hummer. The other one is my old friend, Hummercane Camille.
Kingdoms RAGE and go to war...but the PEasants plant potatoes..
EARTH FIRST! (we'll strip-mine the OTHER planets later.)
The hummers are now feeding out of the yellow feeder but still prefer the other one. The flowered one, that my daughter has one just like it and they suck it dry, the hummers haven't touched. Picky, picky, picky.
They just prefer that clear feeder for some reason.
So what have we learned here?
1. That Thorn had his eyes fixed and can now see that he's bald. 2. That dodge REALLY doesn't know the difference between a blue jay and a hummingbird. 3. That Belinda hangs out her hummingbird feeders but doesn't put any nectar in them. 4. And last but now least that you take a hummer to the nectar but you can't make him drink.
I don't know my measurements. I'm 5'2 and weight 127.2 (we have a digital scale at work). I think I'm hanging in there for 56 years old. Maybe hanging is a bad choice of words.
I'm gonna refill and change them around again. How does Betty hang so many and it looked like they were eating out of all of them. I'm wondering if I should just hang 2.
