This is something I have never even contemplated doing. My woodland area is just a mess. So I want it to be nice looking and still grow enough trees that I can cut firewood and keep the wooded are wooded. I bet that sounds crazy right?

I mean I want to keep some of each type of tree. Plus add the nut trees and keep the trees that the fox grapes are growing on. And I want to keep the trees that will shade the berry canes and provide the acid compost for the blueberries.

But I want to be able to walk underneath the trees without having to brake trail or use a saw to get through. But I don't want to denude it either. Help please.

the only advice I have is if there are weeds and such growing in there don't mow them. I've done that to wooded areas here and it just disturbs the natural mulch and more and more weeds will come up and get really tall.

Wow Tammy, that's going to be a job and a half. We had to use a bulldozer to clear out an area like that when we built the old log cabin.

I know with time it could be done with a spacing saw but I'd never recommend you to try it....too dangerous, even I wouldn't attempt it. Do you have anyone to help you with large tasks?

~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.

no help. Fortunately it isn't old forest for the most part. Most of what I will be bringing down is brush and saplings. I just want to give the saplings that are staying the best chance of growing big and strong. And keeping them away from my well and septic system. I can't afford any plumbing bills.

I'm thinking one tree ever twenty feet should be about right for the larger trees but how much distance can I get away with for the saplings?

No there is noone to help except Heavenly Father and we are a potent team.

He gives me what I need.
