Good for you for protecting your family from sun damage, Jenn!
My dad passed away at age 40 in 1968 from malignant melanoma, the vicious type of skin cancer caused by sun exposure. My whole family has been on guard ever since and we have always been exceptionally careful with our children as well.
We are never on the beach from noon to 3 and even when we are there at other times, we are heavy with the sun block and use cover-ups as well as hats, sunglasses and Maxi owns a portable cabana and beach umbrellas too.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Well, I'm not against vaccinating, I just don't know if I see the sense in vaccinating against something that is not majorly life threatening...which is why chicken pox vaccine is just un-necessary to me. But after doing some reading I'll probably just go ahead and have her get that one as well.
I felt the same way, but after talking to the ped I decided to go ahead and get the vaccine for my two kidos. If I'm remembering correctly, it seems like the ped said the vaccine also kept them from getting as seriously sick from some of the other sicknesses? that was several years ago, though?
and I thought you were supposed to EAT the yogurt to counter act the yeast thing?

cricket, applying yogurt can help also. Some women put yogurt in their you know whats when they have a yeast infection (if they catch it right away) ans swear it makes it go away. theory is that the good yeast over powers the bad yeast.
Some people have sensitive skin no matter what you do. It's good that the spots didn't seem to bother her.
I have a friend who has ask her ped to order a different type of vaccine in that it's made up differently. It has to be ordered and they will have to pay for it. School vaccines at the Health Department are free. Your doctor probably charges you an administration fee. If you decide to get them I say go to your Health Department for the same vaccine at no charge.
Maddie fell under our state's loop hole for preterm babies. We don't pay any medical bills for her right now. Then because we didn't have insurance when I was pregnant with Luke, I was able to get the state insurance and he is covered for the first year. So, I don't pay anything for either of them right now. :)
i'd get the chicken pox vaccine done...if they do catch it, it will be a much less severe case. it will also protect them if they never catch the pox until later in life. when adults get the chicken pox it's much more severe and does other damage to the body. so, now that there's a vaccine available, you should get it for them.

it's the yogurt with acidophilus that will help. It has to have the acidophilus. You can also chew the tablets. If you're ever on an antibiotic for an infection of any kind I advise that you get the pills so you won't get a yeast infection.
Jocylyn are you referring to shingles? Statistically a lot of people commit suicide after have shingles because of the after pain. When I worked at the pain center we treated many people for the after pain of shingles called herpetic pain.

Amoxicillian is the WORST for that!!! When I was pregnant and had a sinus infection, that is the only thing they could give me because I'm allergic to the x-pak. I also asked for the yeast infection meds to take as soon as I was done with the Amox. because I knew I'd end up with the yeast infection. Sooo glad I asked for that 2nd medicine!
ETA: there are other names for the acidophilus..I learned that somewhere, but can't remember where.
