I was looking out our living room window this morning and saw this. They look like grapes to me but they are little. The pic with my finger in it I did for size comparison to my fingernail. Any ideas? I didn't taste one because my luck they would be something poisonous! nervous lol We have lived here for 3 years and this is the first we have noticed them. I'm sure they have been there but I'm surprised we haven't noticed because like I said...you can see them when you look out our living room window. why

Yes, they are grapes. I hope they are sweet for you. Pruning the plant in the fall the right way will make for larger grapes next year.

Helping the world one seed at a time

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. Mary Ann LaPensee

There are whole books on the subject of pruning grapes and I've read a few. I never mastered the subject. The pics and the vines tend to look totally different. But I just slog along and it all turns out pretty well.

We tasted them last night and they are tart and have lots of seeds. My SIL told me to make jelly but I don't think there is enough there to make anything!!

Wowee, what a great find Jessica. You'll have plenty for jelly, well at least for jelly jars. It's just the juice you use from them...give it a try.

I have never made grape jelly Jessica but I have made cherry. It's the same process. Dodge makes grape jelly all the time. I know it doesn't take a whole lot because it's the juice that gets squished from them that counts.

I used to add about 4-5 pounds of cherries and a bit of water(1/2 cup) to cook it all down, squishing as I did. cook 10 minutes. Cool and strain, let sit overnight and strain again with cheesecloth. Strain well the second time through two layers of cheesecloth.

Take 5 cups juice, 7 cups sugar(I know it sounds like alot but you need it) and boil well for a few minutes, add 1 pouch Liquid pectin, boil hard one minute more. Skim and bottle up.

it'll work for grapes because they have the same consistency.
