Hey good for you. There's really nothing like a greenhouse, no matter the size.
My hubby is putting a new "roof on mine". The old one was brittle and had a bunch of holes where birds could get in. It's a tough job getting this roof on, you can hardly work with the tiniest breeze going.
I plan to add a Wooden Floor to it. And yes is is from Harbor Freight, we have a store in Tulsa. And while I was there I bought a trucj crane. So I can lift the wifes Power Chair into the back of the pickup.
If you go to the wheel chair store they want $2500 for a lift that only picks up 300 lbs this one will lift 1000 lbs, and is a whole lot less.
I have been using the Lawn Mower ramps for this.

Beautiful greenhouse.... did the mini rack greenhouse come with or was that a seperate part of the order?
No, I got them for an absolute steal!!!! At Eckerds' at the end of season bargain for like 75%off, so that was about 7 or 9 bucks I think.. *A Loz deal for sure!!!*
~~~>Pat I can not wait to see your greenhouse up and ready and FILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLED!!!!
You are one lucky duck for sure!!!!
Most GH's this size are $1500 to $3000, so for the money you can't beat it.
I plan to try some container citrus trees and maybe a banana.
I have beed doing some research on how to Pollinate inside a greenhouse, I hadn't thought about that. I would like to have fresh tomatoes all year round. This greenhouse is big enough I should be able to grow about any thing I want to. The first rule of selecting a GH is to go bigger than you think you need,
I also have plans to run water and power to it, and maybe gas.
Today I welded up a stand to sit a kitchen sink in so I wash dirt off of my stuff before I bring it in the house.
Just remember Pat, it's not air tight.. *the poly panels allow air in* So, over night temps by morning are just the temp inside unless you have a heater on it.. **although I would say (Sheltered) from outdoor temps, but if it gets really cold, things freeze just the same.**
The only way to raise the temps, is the doors' and window's/vents closed during the day, **which fries the h#ll out of everything, then you have a chance of keeping heat in during the night, if it's a cooler temp.. but for the most part, not much is kept in..
And start watching not only the temps', but the sun, the clouds, overcast days, windy/chilly days, etc..
Too much sun it'll be way over 100 by mid morning...
If it's sunny, but still chilly outdoors, only crack a door or vent a bit, but stay by it cause it can change in a heart beat..
If it's warm in the morning, and you want to keep warm in, but is expecting cloudy by late afternoon, close doors/vents up to keep heat in.. *but if sun comes back, re~open..*
And the bigger one may be way different.. dunno.
My smaller one, I have to stay by.. If I intend to leave at a certain time, and I am just starting seedlings, I have a neighbor or mother watch the greenhouse..
After about 2 or so years, you get the hang of it, without it being too big of a deal... becomes second nature to you, but *at least for me* it was a gigantic new step for me *greenhouse gardening and starting seeds* but now that I feel I have the weather watching down, I'm more comfortable with it...
It will be a while until I put it up. I am going to build it where I tore that old house down, but I still have some cleanup and leveling to do. I am in the process of removing the bottom rom of foundation rocks, between that everything else that is going on here, I have a lot of work to do this year. But I am slowly getting it all done.
I can hardly wait myself!!!
Amigatec I had tomatoes in my greenhouse last year and they did great, also had peppers which did just wonderful as well.
The only thing I had a problem with were squash, zucchini and grouds, I had to learn how to pollinate them buy hand until I got one lone bee inside to help me out.
I'm going to plant borage just outside my greenhouse in a container, this plant is said to attract bees, so we'll see how it goes.
Kindness is a language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.
Nope, at least I don't regret growing mine.. I love the honey bees.. and they love borage.. and so do many other beneficial bugs love it... I just showed you a picture of how big they can get.. Mine's at least 3ft tall..
Weezie how did you anchor yours to the ground??? I live in Tornado Alley, and I will have to find a good way to anchor it.
The only thing we did for "Wind Alley" is the heavy two by fours wooden floor... And he made it so 4 men can pick it up and carry it away, much like back in Roman times I guess when they carried the phoro's *sp~wrong* on all fours.
I am not sure.. When my hubby gets home, he can possible tell you better.. **He's staying at his dad's cause he was in the ER last night and is sick**
I think I have it figured out. I will buy some all thread rods, drill a few holes around the base, dig a hole under each all thread rod, bend the rods and after the whole thing is up and level, I will fill the holes with concreat.
I think 4 holes on the long side and 2 holes on the short sides should do it.
Uhhhh, can't help you there.. Hubby's not here, but I will read it to him and see if he can make any other suggestions or hints that he did...
On a side note, my mother went out and bought another 4 tier zipper greenhouse.. *so total now we have 6... Now I have one for every area in the greenhouse inside.. Works out good now...
*and to think, I was almost thinking of not even putting a garden in this year, or at the very least a very scaled down one.. because of all the stuff going on here so far now...*
Getting excited for you and your greenhouse though.. I can't wait to see it up and what it looks like inside..
Don't forget, I think it's tall enough that you can find some poles *can't think of another word/name for it* that go along the top part for HANGING BASKETS.. Or a hose system/watering system... Just food for thought for you to think about some...
pat, here in hurricane ally, they have the long auger screws (similar to waht you use for a dog tie out or swing set stability) that we used to anchor our shed. those might work for you.
I have found a wealth of info on how to tie down and brace this greenhouse. I seems that others have been down this road before and have already posted fixes and other info about this.
Wooooo~hooooooo!!! Here it goes... Anticipation... **I didn't get to see mine built, They put it together at my f~i~l's house and brought it over thru town on a car hauler, and delivered it to my mothers' house.. FAKIN' ME OUT EVEN MORE!!!**
The foundation and base are done, now working on the walls.
It should start going fast now.
I case you are wondering the base is level, the ground slopes and it just looks like it is running downhill. It looks that way to me as well, but I have checked it numerous times and it is level.
One OS to rule them, one OS to find them: One OS to bring them all and in the darkness bind them in the Land of Redmond where the shadows lie.
If you build like the instructions say the high winds will blow it away, it has a bit slow going at first because I wasn't sure how the build the foundation for it. It says to dig out and bury the steel base in the ground, and fill it full of rock, with it fastened to the 4x4's it won't go anywhere.
The whole thing is Aluminum and Plastic, so as I go I am looking for ways to beef it up a bit.
So far have spent another $125 on addtional material. I plan to add a floor of treated decking.
One thing I hadn't thought about is the treated lumber has a high copper content. If you use regular zinc plated lag bolts, it will act like a battery and transfer the zinc/steel from the bolts to the copper in the wood. In about 6 months times the bolts will fall out. I used galvanized bolts and screws to fasten it, that is also why I used the roofing paper in between the stakes and base and the 4X4's.
Next I will have to see how the beef up the wall studs, they are held on with little clips. I will probably wait until the floor is in the beef it up.
I also plan to use the roofing paper for a weed barrier.
I haven't given up on it yet I am still builfing it, I have added some more pictures 75-84, where I added some cross bracing, Still need to finish that, And I have backfilled the base I also have started on the roof.
