I came across this weed on the internet today when I was trying to ID a butterfly. never got it ID's, but ran across a weed which a LOT of butterflies from my region go for. the pic's I found looked much prettier than what my wild ones look like, but I think what I have IS Joe Pye weed. anyone know? if that is what it is can I dig up a small one and transplant...or collect seeds for the spring?

my butterfly is on sedum but I do have joe pye wee growing too. It does look like that and it spreads like crazy. I don't think you'll need to get seeds. It will show up everywhere.
TOO COOL! when I was looking through a butterfly list yesterday, every other butterfly had joe pye weed as a favorite. I'm gonna try and find a small one and see if I can move a couple up closer to the house. all of mine are way out in the fields.

that's a pretty cool site, sheri. well, I already moved one up by the porch steps. they don't smell nice do they? to me it smelled like sweat. If it does well from being transplanted I'll move a few more.
