So... Mom insisted that I post on here how she is doing. She was only in surgery for 3 hours (they had predicted 3-5 so only 3 was good). We finally got to see her around 7p (cst) tonight. She was really, really sleepy but they had something stuck behind her ear so she wouldn't feel any nausea - and she said it seemed to be working well. Of course she was in a little pain, but over all she looked much better than when she came out of ANY of her previous surgeries. So I'm sure she will be able to rest comfortably tonight. In fact she was doing so well she had time to worry that my Dad would not take proper care of thier dog, Dante. Obviously if that is what is on her mind, she is doing well. I expect that she will be feeling up to some typing... or at least reading, by the weekend, Monday at the latest probably.
Anyway, she just didn't wany any of you worrying. Blessings to all -Valarie
Thank you so much for posting this information, Valarie! I'm so glad to hear that the surgery was shorter than expected, and that your mom is doing well. I've heard of the patch behind the ear - glad it's working for her.
Of course we were all thinking of her - and thank you both for not wanting us to worry. Though we are concerned of course!
Please give your mom my best wishes for a very speedy recovery!
Thanks for the news, praying she has an easy recovery and this will end all her problems now.... glad it went so well..... and welcome too to you.... Nana
I'm just checking in here late tonight to see if there were any updates yet. It is such good news you gave us, too.
All prayers, always.

We were given two hands to hold, two eyes to see, two ears to listen & two legs to walk. But why were we given only one heart? The other heart was given to another for us to find.
Valarie~ Thanks so much for posting for Carol She is in my thoughts and continued prayers she has a quick recovery and this is that last of these surgeries for her ,, Bless her heart she was worried about Dante' :ding:

Thanks everyone! I visited mom today and she looked well. This hospital is actually careing for her (unlinke the small town hosp. she was at the last 3 times). They are taking special care to keep her from feeling any nausea and from allowing her pain to become very bad.
All in all she is doing well. I told her of all your well wishes and prayers and she was happy and thankful.
I'm soooooo glad to hear this hospital is more concerned with comfort for the patient,, Bless you for keeping us informed,, . Send her our love and prayers!

Thanks so much for updating us on your mom's condition, Valarie! I am so glad that they are taking good care of her, and are keeping her as comfortable as possible. Can't wait to hear that she is well enough to go home.
Jiffy called me just a few minutes ago to ask if I'd post this for you all. She just spoke with Carol Jean but isn't where she can post herself.
Carol is healing well, but much more slowly than anticipated and she is still in the hospital. She thinks that when she returns home it will be some time before she'll be up for sitting in her computer chair but looks forward to chatting via the phone with those of you who call.
I'm sure she'll be glad if we keep going with all our prayers, always.

hi eveeryone. I am home--got home monday night. I am in so much pain I cannot stand it. I was taking percocet. all it did was make me breath fast adn sweat like a stuck hog. I am now taking some old hydrocodone I had. it does not work any better but at least i do not sweat so much or breath so fast. (home healt nurse called my dr. but as far as I know they have not bothered to get back to me/her yet).
I cannot get on the computer unless I stand here and bend over (I should not really be doing that, but it does help that DH put my keyboard up on the top of my desk.--
I do not think I will be on very much at all for quite awhile. I do not go see the dr nutil the first part of October---but at one time he said it would be 6 weeks or so before I was healed.
Love you all------- :ding:
Miss you much!!!!

Sorry to hear you are in so much pain Carol! I sure hope they get your pain meds figured out!!
It is nice to see you on here because we miss you but don't want you to cause yourself more pain to do so. We are thinking of you and will be here when you feel well enough to stay a while!
(hey loz... did you just offer to send Carol your laptop??? guess not... )
Carol - it was so good to see that you had posted this morning, but I'm so sorry that you are in so much pain. It's not what we asked for, you know? Hopefully you will hear back from the dr. soon, and you can start to feel more like yourself and this will all be an distant, unpleasant memory.
Just read all your posts (this is a watched topic for me so my cell phone just vibrated about 15 times this morning ;)
I talked to mom who said that because posting hadn't agreed with her, she has not been back on. I read her the notes all of you left after her post and she was very glad to hear all of your well wishes and prayers.
Also between Emily and I, I believe there is a free laptop (or could be one freed up anyway) so hopefully we'll be able to hook mom up with one since she does have wireless internet anyway. She needs to be sitting up, so perhaps a tv tray or breakfast-in-bed tray would be appropriate for her.
Finally, she said that the occupational therapist came today and is teaching her new ways to do every-day activities differently so that she does not pull on her stomach muscles. That should be a great help in keeping her away from the hospital.
My Grandmother is staying with Mom during the day so that Dad can be at work, so she is doing fine and will hopefully be posting much just as soon as we can get her a laptop set up.
Blessings to all Valaire
PS. If you'd like to call her PM me and I'll send you her phone #. I read above that some of you have passed it around. That is fine too. She isn't doing anything anyway and would apparently enjoy phone calls. :)
I finally got in after days of trying(I hate my computer)...and am so glad to see Carol is back. Now I'll wait patiently for her to heal so she can chat with me everyday..
Carol, I missed you.
~~Tam~ You can bury all your troubles by digging in the dirt.
Cindy--Bless you dear---I tell you what---how about if you do as you tell ME to do---then we all 3 can get better and be back on here recovered and as happy and as sassy as ever.
** Personally I think you, me & tamara should get to be in a rehab center together----we could just sit and visit & let everyone else wait on us until we got better.**
YOU take very good care of you--and call me any time.--Lord knows I am here and during the day am rarely asleep.--Besides, calls from my friends are never an intrusion.
Tamara: Bless you and I am so sorry about your computer.
Emily & Chris came over this morning to bring me a laptop that they wanted to loan me for the forseeable future.- Well they had no battery source nor some software or another with them--so the laptop will come another day.-- The good news is it IS coming.
I miss you too tamara--I am glad to hear it was the computer and not you that was the problem.
This recovery will be a long one but hopefully it will be THE one.---although I do worry about the long term restrictions--I will hope if they're are any they are few, and minor.
to everyone
