I planted what the packet said was shasta daisy what came up does not resemble a daisy at all it looks like a morning glory but then after the blooms fade a prickly cone appears does anyone know what it may be ?

hmmmm - I thought I had responded in this thread a few days ago?

Anyway... I had also thought it could be a coneflower because of the way you describe it. What color are the flower petals? Maybe a black eyed suzie?

if it resembled a morning glory it may have been a datura * based on the shape of a morning glory,,,* a morning glory doesn't have individual petals, ~ a datura prickly pod hangs down where the bloom was at and green turning brown later,,
did your flower have petals???? if so then it very well could have been a cone flower,, I'd like to see a picture too.

Datura or bergmansia would be my guess as well as they have a thorny pod. and a trumpit shaped flower. pics please
