Dodge, your plant is a Stapelia hirsuta... a carrion flower... It is a succulent from South Africa. The flower is awesome, but whatever you do, don't sniff it too soon after it opens! nervous

Bill - I'm so glad you mentioned that, as I too, have heard that they smell like rotting meat!

Once, when I had the nursery, I had about 30 of those flowers pop open on a single day. House #5 was off limits for several days... zoink
